Located on the Shipley Plateau at Blackheath, just two hours by car or train from Sydney, Kanimbla View offers the perfect getaway for couples, families and groups, and is the ideal base from which to visit the many attractions and activities in the Blue Mountains.
Banksia Cottage can accommodate up to 7 persons in three bedrooms.
Architect-designed and built with recycled materials Banksia Cottage is split-level with living area, kitchen/dining, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The cottage has a wood burning fire and gas heater and is on solar power. There is a fully equipped kitchenette with gas oven, fridge and microwave. A radio with ipod station and games including scrabble and monopoly are provided. Outdoors there is terrace with dining table and gas BBQ in a bush setting.
All linen including towels is supplied, along with ground coffee, tea and milk.
Beyond the cottage, Kanimbla View's other delights await you – the tennis court, table tennis, petanque pitch, a kilometre of walking tracks and, not least, those magical cliff tops.

We had a wonderful stay at Nigel's eco property surrounded by beautiful bushland and bird song. Perfect cosy weekend getaway!

We adored this cottage — perfect location (close to town and pub but in a very private, scenic bush area), loved the fireplace (and fire built waiting for us on arrival), well set up kitchen, super comfy couches and bed, luxe linen, friendly thoughtful host Nigel, it really had everything we could want. There is a beautiful cliff top talk that is perfect on your arrival afternoon and we had the best time playing chess by the fire and watching the sun set through the wattle trees. Was lovely for us as a couple’s getaway but could comfortably come with a family or a few friends. Would absolutely return, thanks Nigel for a wonderful stay!

Hidden gem

We really enjoyed the cozy and rustic atmosphere provided by this well designed, constructed and appointed eco cabin. Nothing quite like kicking back by the fireplace with the peace of the blue mountains surrounds. Our host Nigel was friendly and responsive plus checking in and out was a breeze. A quiet delightful place surrounded by the bush

We enjoyed our stay in this cottage and sitting by the fireplace reading a book before bed. The owner was really friendly and helpful and looked to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The entrance directions to the property provided were a little confusing but easy to find by typing 113 Shipley Rd into Google maps instead of 111. Whilst we didn't get a chance to explore any of the trails around the property in full we did encounter a snake, so be alert if you choose to go exploring.

Just great - Bush-walks and relax

Banksia Cottage is the perfect location for couples or groups of friends who are looking to spend some quality time out from the craziness of the city. The cottage is located in the middle of the bush, you can have an early walk in the morning and then have breakfast in the outdoor area and enjoy nature. The cottage has all you need and well equipped for cold nights with the gas heater or the fireplace. Leura and Katoomba are 10/15 mins drive so super convenient if you need to do shopping or a quick walk. Nigel, the owner, is a great host .. make sure to ask him some tips about what to visit locally. Will definitely be back.

Great escape!

We loved our cosy stay at Banksia. The fire place did a great job of making the living areas nice and warm, and allowed us to instantly relax, read, play games and generally re-connect with out the distraction of devices. We loved exploring the bushwalking tracks around the property and the cliff views were fantastic. Having a chance to have a family hit of tennis just outside the lodge was also very special. The cottage had all the basics we needed, and was very clean and comfortable. We had a great weekend and hope to come and stay again!
