See our video on our website for more info: www.ashevilleurbannest.com
This condo was renovated in 2019 and is on the third floor of an historic building that is in the center of downtown. Walk to all of the unique locally owned shops, art galleries, delicious restaurants, theaters, the Fine Art cinema, Pack Place and the Orange Peel for a concert. Most of Asheville's festivals start at Pack Place, and that's just one block away. Park your car in the deck across the street and leave it there! Watch the Christmas Parade go by from the window and take the elevator to the first floor for a first-class dining experience at the Lobster Trap, where they fly in Maine lobsters daily. If you don't feel like venturing out, order up some dinner or appetizers from the Lobster Trap. If you are interested in experiencing what downtown Asheville is all about, you will not find a better location. We have a spa right next door if you need a massage on your way home.
This oasis in the middle of downtown is perfect for those who want a comfortable place to relax in, and to use as a home away from home, as a base for their downtown Asheville explorations. Mature adults only--not a place for college students to come and party. Many guests report how quiet the building is, but there are times that you may hear the noises of city life outside as we are surrounded by restaurants, music venues and shops in the heart of downtown. They don't roll up the sidewalks at 8pm.
The kitchen is fully equipped to cook wonderful meals from local ingredients you pick up at the local tailgate markets downtown on Saturdays and Wednesdays, though with so many wonderful restaurants nearby, you may opt out of cooking altogether. Asheville was chosen by Fodor's as the #1 travel destination in the world! Asheville has become known for it's many locally brewed beers, creative restaurants that use locally grown ingredients, and of course for their arts and crafts communities. The Downtown Urban Nest is within easy walking distance to wine stores, an artisan cheese store, bakeries, every type of restaurant, movie theater and music venues.
If you like the outdoors, you will find endless opportunities within an hour of downtown - hiking, mountain biking, running, ziplining, rock climbing, snow skiing, etc. See our website to hear about our favorites picnic spots and hikes nearby. Find out why so many people are moving here! If you are one of those, we proudly recommend two realtors to drive you around to see what you like.
Parking options for your car, if you bring one, are in the public lots across from the condo (the Rankin Deck and the Civic Center lot), and there are meters on both sides of the building. Parking in the decks is pretty inexpensive for the heart of a very popular city ($20/24 hours). Meters are free after 6pm and all day on Sundays and holidays. If you are going to be arriving on a Friday or Saturday night, know that events may be happening that take up much of the parking in the decks. If you are staying in the busy months (summer and October), know that parking can be a pain and best to park your car and walk or Uber, and just try to avoid arriving dinner time on weekends, when it's most crowded.
Drovers Way and The Nest On Broadway, our two other short term rental properties, are just down the street from the Urban Nest. Ask us about it if the Nest is booked.
The address of the Urban Nest is 51 College St. between Lexington and Haywood St.
WE DO NOT LIST ON CRAIGSLIST, SO IF YOU SEE OUR APARTMENT THERE, IT'S A SCAM. PLEASE FLAG.

About the host
Hosted by Lynne Harty

Lynne Harty, local artist/photographer with her husband, Steve Cohen, an artist's manager. Lynne and Steve are happy to help you plan your outdoor adventures, steer you to their favorite restaurants, or stock the kitchen with items for your arrival. Just ask. They both work downtown around the corner from the condo so you can always stop by with any questions.
Lynne and Steve love to hike and explore the area around Asheville, and are happy to share their enthusiasm. They are also very involved in the Asheville art and music community so they are a good resource for your explorations. As Asheville is a foodie haven, they do their best to keep their guests up to date on new restaurants, which is a big job these days! They just added the 'Glad to Have You' app which has recommendations on everything from Lynne's favorite women's clothing store to their favorite spot for a glass of wine.

Why they chose this property
You can't find a better location in downtown Asheville nor more accommodating hosts, as we've been doing this for 9 years. We love to spend the night in the condo on nights when we are going to a show at the Orange Peel, or when we just want to be able to leave the car behind after a night on the town! I've furnished the condo to feel like a quiet home away from home with everything you need. Often we'll take the elevator down to the Lobster Trap to have a quiet dinner or glass of wine (or even ask them to bring appetizers to our condo for us!). We love the old brick wall in the living room, the funky nature of our old building, and that we have a tree outside our window despite living downtown. It's a very comfortable space.
What makes this property unique
The condo is a quiet place to stay and sleep despite being in the heart of downtown Asheville. I have wireless internet which makes it easy to work in as well. Many people have used the condo as a retreat. We offer Pharmacopia natural bath products and use green cleaning products. Spa Theology, a day spa next door, will provide in room massage if requested. Also the Lobster Trap on the first floor will deliver their delicious meals to the condo if requested (though it's fun to sit at their bar and enjoy their beer and fresh oysters while listening to live acoustic music). You really won't need a car when staying at our condo as you can walk everywhere in downtown Asheville.
