About this property

Lochinvar House B&B - Historical getaway

Lochinvar House (1841) Bed & Breakfast

Just 2 hours drive from Sydney, close to the Hunter Valley's finest wineries, restaurants and vineyards, Lochinvar House (1841) offers grand accommodation in an historic Georgian - Victorian country house overlooking an 88 acre Hunter River estate. The homestead set well off the main road in a picturesque rural setting surrounded by grassed acres carrying cattle and horses.

Lochinvar House is an early Australian colonial homestead. The hallways are wide, the ceilings high, the rooms large and furnished with antiques. It is a stunning and comfortable homestead with great view and amazing ambiance.

The Main House has 5 bedrooms, consisting of 3 generous queen-bed rooms, 1 large "Four-poster" queen-bed room with a double sofa bed and 1 large "Family Room" with 2 king-single beds and 1 queen bed. In the Main House there are 2 share bathrooms, including one in marble with its original bath (the biggest you've ever seen). Total can sleep up to 14 peoples.

The 4-poster room and Family room open onto the front verandah, overlooking Loch Katrine. From here, you can experience spectacular sunrises and the reflection of the moon on the Loch.

The Main House also has a very large lounge room with fireplace, nice dining room with fireplace and a newly renovated billiard room.

There is bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities, and micro wave for guests to use. Please note that cooking is not allowed inside the house but guests can cook in the BBQ area.

Our other facilities including BBQ and salt water pool (with shower and toilet).

Lochinvar House is an ideal place for gatherings and reunions of friends and families, relaxing and enjoying the place, or exploring the vineyards and surroundings.

Lochinvar House has a manager couple living on-site (on another building) to welcome and assist you during your stay, including the preparation of your lovely breakfast.

Lovely location.
The 200 year old house is very grand, but could do with some TLC inside and outside the property. House was dusty and bed overlays/ rugs need cleaning and airing. General maintenance on broken showers heads, door knobs falling off, kitchen cleaning also needs attention.

Country hospitality at its best
Lochinvar is a stunning home. Robyn, the manager is extremely welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. The bbq area can easily seat 12 people. The beds are all comfortable, and everyone had a good sleep. The couch and chairs in the lounge room are quite old and have seen better days, which didn’t impact on our stay as we were outside most of the time, but for colder stays may be more of an issue. Thanks for a great weekend.

Great historic building little help on the service
Everything was great fabulous home very welcoming staff. Kitchen was slightly messy on our arrival. Scrambled egg remnants on bench and garbage bag still next to bin hadn't been taken out. A bit of refinement on that front needed. However beautiful property lovely comfy beds otherwise very well kept and tidy. Next time call your customers to let them know you are charging for final payment prior to arrival to property. And let the owners of the property know this too as they had no idea final payment had been made by us.

Loved the house, Robyn the manager was lovely
Beautiful old house and property..however needs a really good clean inside and out. Obviously been years of neglect. The beds were comfy and felt clean. But was very cold and no electric blankets. There are open fires but no wood. Robyn did get a fire going for us but we had to chop old fence palings for wood. For a thousand a night there should be firewood stacked and chopped and ready. Breakfast was cooked well but very very basic. This housestay could be so much more if the owners put a bit more effort in to the comfort of guest. I.e welcoming fires going, big fluffy quilts on beds, electric blankets, a fire pit in front yard to gather around, bathrooms repaired and scrubbed, a big old country breakfast with bacon eggs mushrooms tomato and perhaps some muffins. It would def need air con for summer stays as well. We would book again and again if that was the case and be prepared to pay a bit more. Robyn the hostess made us feel very welcome and comfortable however and we loved the dogs.
