Hawkesbury River Guest House is situated at Lower Portland right on the banks of the beautiful Hawkesbury River. Although you are just over an hour from Sydney, you are a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life, a place where tranquillity and magic reigns.
This beautiful two story guest house offers river views from all rooms, with easy access to our private boat ramp and a jetty available for larger boats. Enjoy on your own private waterfront, which is fantastic to swim and water ski from.
The guest house has all brand new décor.
Pets on application please.
Sheets and towels not included.
Minimum 2 night stay.
Check in is from 2pm and Check out is at 11am

A lovely getaway from Sydney (in close proximity) that was so good we thought we were hours from civilisation. Had everything we needed for a last minute weekender and the scenery, relaxing surrounds and active fishing made the whole stay leaving us wanting another visit!

All was as described. We all loved the quiet and seclusion for a couple of days - we needed some space. Also lots of space so the dog loved it too. Fishing is tough though if u terrible at it (like me). I really liked it, but I do note its not high end fancy.

Excellent view great place to stay

We had a great experience staying at the property. The water views and the ambience made it memorable Rod was very prompt with his replies to our queries and made our stay very comfortable

Great escape from reality

Very clean property. Great location near the river. Awesome dinning area with family n friends outdoors to enjoy the view. Peaceful and great large playing grass area for kids.

Great location

Would highly recommend the guesthouse. Great location The only problem we had wasn’t long enough. Very relaxing very quiet. On the river Great weekend catching up with good friends. We Will do it again in the near future.

Water ski couples weekend

We had 2 couples and 3singles stay at the property and all found it amazing. The facilities were more then enough and we did most of our cooking out by the water on the bbq. We used the boat ramp to its full capacity. The property was extremely clean and we will definitely be back

Fantastic getaway

We booked this location as my young kids were begging me for a fishing trip. This property stood out with its great location by the river. Absolutely magic. Rod greeted us on arrival - even offered us use of his boat but sadly I don’t have a license. He dropped off a stack of firewood too. A great host. A great property.

We had a great time, beautiful spot, clean house and owners were very accommodating. Will stay again

We tented this property for 11 days and had a great time. The location was quiet and the scenery picturesque. The property contained everything you needed and more (which was surprising). Just needed to bring your own linen. The owner was easy to contact and more than happy to respond to our queries in minimal time. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and family. Thanks Rod and family .

Place to relax

Was a lovely place overall, and Rod was very pleasant when we met briefly. Relaxing and great views of the river, great little fire pit and bbq area. However, we didn't realise until settling in, that there is a boat building/fixing business on the premises. There was some sort of fibre glass resin spray used, which gave out industrial strength fumes at inconvenient times, mostly when we wanted to sit outside, resulting in us having to go back inside to avoid these fumes. I feel there needs to be a notice/warning to let guests know that spraying goes on at certain times of the day, so they are forewarned. Would be dreadful if someone with respiratory/asthma issues was to become sick because of these strong fumes. Also, one toilet for 10 people proved to be tricky, especially when we had to walk through someone else's bedroom to get to it. There is a washing machine provided, however, there is no clothes airer, clothesline or dryer to dry clothes. Despite all this, it is a nice place to stay. Thanks Rod

Beautiful property & enjoyed our stay. Great facilities & Rod was very accommodating & helpful. Only 2 downfalls was the bathroom is only accessible through the 2nd bedroom downstairs & morning sunlight coming through the skylight which is opposite the king bed.

Amazing getaway

We stayed for 5 nights in January and we can't wait to go back. Rod was so helpful and arranged a baby high chair and baby gate. The kids had a great time swimming, fishing and boating. The firepit was also a hit. Fantastic spot close to Sydney. Would also be lovely in winter with the fire place.

Paradise on the river

Very enjoyable stay - host extremely accomodating and what a spot! Swimming, cricket, football and Rod even lent us his boat. Lovely cafe about 1k away with delicious food. House is beautiful with all amenities - you won’t regret a getaway to this peaceful spot.

Beautiful location on the river

This was a beautiful relaxed spot, easy process to find and check in. Lovely spacious kitchen and wonderful outdoor table and BBQ area. We were 2 families with kids so one stayed upstairs and the other down, it's a bit awkward that you have to go through one of the bedrooms to access the bathroom, and shower and toilet in the same room. The kids loved watching the boats. I highly recommend checking out Paradise Pizza down the road

A relaxing paradise

It was amazing to escape all the stress of everyday life and relax in this cute riverside cottage. Our kids had a ball playing soccer, cricket and using the jetski. It was so convenient having our own private boat ramp to use. Thank you for a lovely stay. We would love to come back oneday.
