About this property
Waterfront Accommodation - Goolwa Township
The Admiral Riverside - relaxed waterfront luxury. Simply the most panoramic views in Goolwa.
Offering boutique waterfront accommodation for up to 8 guests, The Admiral Riverside is situated on Goolwa’s premier riverfront address - Admiral Terrace - providing guests with sublime vistas across the Murray River, Goolwa Lake, Hindmarsh Island and the Barrage.
Ideally suited to couples seeking a romantic escape, family celebrations or groups seeking self-catering accommodation, The Admiral Riverside is beautifully appointed, thoughtfully laid out and within easy walking distance to everything that Goolwa has to offer.
Standing on the highest point of the Murray riverbank, this Goolwa landmark is located adjacent to the wharf in the heritage listed area of the township and has been modernised and transformed from its humble 1850’s origins. Unpretentious luxury and uninterrupted relaxation is what The Admiral Riverside is all about. The living is easy and the surroundings inspiring.
The Admiral comfortably sleeps 4 couples in its four well-appointed bedrooms, each with queen sized bed and two with private ensuites.
The property combines two bedrooms in the main cottage with two separate elevated studio ensuites with stunning water views.
The layout is ideal for several couples or for parents with teenage children looking to combine a family holiday with some personal privacy. Each private studio ensuite offers a main bedroom, bathroom, HD television, bar fridge, coffee machine and tea making facilities.
In the main house the fully equipped kitchen with café bar opening to the outdoor entertaining area makes the preparation of lazy breakfasts, afternoon grazing platters and indulgent evening meals an absolute pleasure.
Gather friends for a dinner party, fire up the BBQ for outdoor entertaining with the family or light candles for a romantic dinner for two.
Settle onto the large infinity deck and feel your stress melt away watching the never-ending spectacle of light and shadow playing across the water stretched out before you. Enjoy the thrill of the yacht racing, the beauty of the pelicans and the majesty of the Oscar W paddle steamer. And try to decide how many photos of the view are too many to post.
Moor your boat at the public marina in front of the property or walk down to the wharf and jump on one of the many boats that cruise the Coorong and Lower Murray.

"Fantastic location, luxury, stylish and practical accommodation - 5 star find". Amanda W, stayed August 2018
"This house is amazing. It is beautifully decorated and the layout is perfect. The two bedrooms in the main house are gorgeous, the beds are so comfortable and the pillows a dream. The two detached bedrooms with private en-suites were great - it made sure there was no congestion in the bathroom. The pool table and theatre room were so much fun. The location is perfect. I can not recommend this place enough and will be back for sure". Laura, stayed March 2019
"Serenity. Wonderful location to shops and cafes, beautiful river outlook and perfect for sunrises". Katrina A, stayed April 2019
"Beautiful accommodation with fantastic Murray River views. Overall this is one of the best properties we have ever stayed in". John F stayed March 2019
"The property is exceptionally clean, spacious, with multiple areas inside and out to relax and soak up the serenity. We appreciated the house was decorated with artistic pieces from local artists. Great value for money. It's everything you love about Goolwa, all in one". Sheri A, stayed September 2018------------------
About Goolwa
Nestled on a small peninsula between the Goolwa Lake, mouth of the Murray River, the Coorong National Park and the stunning Goolwa Beach the charming river port town of Goolwa offers something for everyone whether you are a foodie, boatie, surfer, swimmer, fisherman, walker, kayaker, golfer or cyclist.
Throw out a rug and picnic on the banks of the river, or savour a glass of local wine, a locally brewed beer, gin and whiskey, an amazing coffee, a gourmet cooked breakfast on the Goolwa Wharf, or fine dining at the award winning Australasian - it's all on your doorstep and only a couple of minutes walk away.
The unique combination of river, lake and beach on your doorstep provides endless options for summer aquatic adventures including swimming, sailing, wakeboarding, water skiing, kayaking, paddleboarding, jet skiing, surfing, boogie boarding, kitesurfing and fishing.
Keen fishermen are spoilt for choice. Just throw a line off the wharf just 50 metres from your door to fish for Callop, Bream, Perch, Redfin, Murray Cod, freshwater shrimp and yabbies while watching the pelicans out-fish you! Or for the more adventurous, fish the barrage, Beacon 19, Murray Mouth, Coorong or surf-fish the 11km of pristine Goolwa Beach, fully accessible by 4WD.
A two minute drive (or ten minute walk) from The Admiral Riverside will have you at Goolwa Beach – one of the most beautiful and untouched parts of the South Australian coastline.
Head down the ramp and onto the beach itself and drive on the perfect white sand beach for 11kms to the Murray Mouth – the end of Murray River, the entrance to the Coorong and home to a colony of seals and numerous school fish which move freely through this unique and pristine channel which is not accessible by any other means.
The Admiral Riverside is a perfect choice to explore Goolwa and the Fleurieu Peninsula for extended holidays, short breaks, a romantic retreat, a family holiday to remember or an annual pilgrimage with friends - the choice is yours.
