ABOUT TOOGOOM
Toogoom is located on Queensland’s Fraser Coast, just a 15-minute drive from Hervey Bay which is famous for observing the annual Humpback Whale migration and world heritage listed Fraser Island. Toogoom is exactly how you would picture a quiet seaside village – lots of fishing, swimming, water activities, walks on the beach, especially at low tide when the landscape is completely different and new things to discover.
WHAT TO DO
Being close to the beach and taking the time to just be, is something that we need to do on a regular basis for our own well-being and health. Whether you are here with your partner or family, just by being here, everything slows down and very quickly, you start to unwind and relax for a few days.
If adventure is more your style, then there’s loads to do to explore and be active in Toogoom and around Hervey Bay. Here are just a few options for you to think about.
-Water sports: beach and/or deep sea fishing, kayaking, jet-skiing and boating.
-Adventure: whale watching between July and November, day trip to Fraser Island.
-Historic tours: take a drive to the heritage listed town of Maryborough or nearby Bundaberg.
Or, you can do next to nothing staying in:
-Swim at the best part of Toogoom beach.
-Explore the sea bed at low tide – the tide goes out around 500 metres so there’s loads to see.
-Try your luck at fishing.
-Bring your kayak – best at high tide.
-Fly a kite – perfect on the beach as there’s no trees or power lines.
-Stroll to the Saltys Café for great coffee and freshly baked goods.
-Wander over to Goody’s for a lazy Saturday or Sunday lunch.

About the host
Hosted by Maria Nati

Hi there! My name is Maria Nati. Together with my husband Rick, we own and run Coco Palms Coastal Retreat.
We live on the Norther Beaches of Sydney NSW with our two children. We love to holiday to tropical islands and to places that are warm the whole year round. With that in mind, we set out to buy our own place in the sunshine state of Queensland that we could escape to often especially in winter. We wanted a place that is easy and quick to get to. A quiet place that is near the beach where we can swim and take long walks in the evenings. A place where we can relax and getaway from life's pressures. A place where we can feel at home, in a great community. A place that is close enough from everything but feels like miles away from it all. And being in Queensland, it must be a Queenslander!
And naturally, we wanted to give this place a tropical island holiday feel. We drew inspiration from our family holiday to Hawaii and as we are huge Elvis fans, we visited the (closed) Coco Palms resort on Kauai Island, where Elvis filmed Blue Hawaii and where he and Priscilla had their honeymoon. We also drew inspiration from the Queenslander architecture and the local area. We have collected a lot of interesting artwork and vintage items that creates a unique fusion that makes it feel homely and inviting.
We love our own Coco Palms home and are happy to share it with you to enjoy with your family and friends.
