About this property

House with Arab and Swahili influences built in the 16th Century

Tucked away in a quiet street in the centre of Lamu's historic Old Town, Baitul Noor House is a newly renovated 16th century Arab-style town house that has been specifically designed for the intrepid and social traveller as well as groups of friends and families. We have highlighted the centuries old architecture of the building with warm, rustic finishes and a modern twist to give you a unique yet traditional and homey feel. The social spaces have been adorned with murals illustrated by Nicola Heath and Eliamin Ali - two of Nairobi’s top artists. Our extensive rooftop lounging area for unwinding and relaxing, our traditional coastal kitchen serving Swahili-style food, the social spaces and other amenities make us one of Lamu’s most entertaining and comfortable accommodation options. Our central location means you're minutes away from local shops, the seafood market, banks, restaurants, bus station, airport and the white sandy beaches of Shela and Manda island.
