About this property

Marfa House El Balcon, in the heart of Marfa with direct balcony access

El Balcon is a one bedroom/one bath studio apartment suitable for one or two persons located on the second floor of the Marfa House, an historic structure originally built as a railroad hotel in 1890 and lovingly restored over a 14-year period to preserve its old west charm and equip it with modern amenities. El Balcon has a private entrance from the second floor balcony of Marfa House and features premium bedding (which can be configured as a king-sized bed or two twin beds, at the guests' option), an en suite bathroom with shower, a seating nook with reading light, and a coffee station; and a second chair. Comfortable seating is also available right outside on the Marfa House balcony, where you can relax and peruse the goings on in central Marfa while sipping your favorite beverage. El Balcon guests also have access to the other Marfa House common areas open to all guests: the gallery sitting area, and the atrium at the rear, which features a fire pit and large screen television.

The City of Marfa charges a local occupancy tax of seven percent, in addition to the state occupancy tax of six percent. We are registered with the City as lodging No. S-105.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Property managers are not present. We were the only people in the building. A few squawks be nice to have sugar, sweetener and creamer for coffee, a box of facial tissues. TV was useless for live or local TV. Otherwise had a nice stay was quiet and relaxing to sit on the balcony.

Fantastic Location, lovely place!
Easy check in and out with the multiple (good security) door codes. The room is bright, with a bit of light at night (didn’t bother me) and a train now and then going by… but all the town center hotels would have that… those are the only two things that I want to mention that might be a problem for some folks. Otherwise, wow!, incredible location, really lovely place with a balcony & blankets to sit outside and soak in the Marfa evening light. A small gallery downstairs with a reading area and the room itself was bright and comfortable with coffee at the ready. Bathroom was clean and the soap/shampoo/etc… was really nice! I would book again next time I’m visiting.

Why they chose this property

A WORD ABOUT OUR CLEANING PRACTICES IN THE WAKE OF THE PANDEMIC:
Marfa House wants our guests to be safe during their visits. In response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have committed to the following practices:
--The Marfa House apartments will be left vacant a minimum of 24 hours between guest residencies.
--The host will socially distance and wear a mask during direct interactions with guests. Guests will, of course, have all-hours access to the Marfa House entry and their booked unit via keypad entrance access, including for check-in.
--An antiseptic solution will be used to clean all contact surfaces in each unit before guests check in--including door knobs, appliances, counters, and mini split AC/heating and ceiling fan remotes, as well as multiple daily wipe-downs of other high-traffic surfaces such as entry door knobs, light switches, stair railings, and the television remote in the Atrium.
--The space is heated and cooled with an individual mini split HVAC unit which utilizes fresh air from outside, so there is no recirculated air which could result in health concerns.

What makes this property unique

El Balcon is small, but it is very convenient to the second-floor balcony, which has comfortable seating and always offers a breeze and great location for morning coffee or an evening drink while watching the goings on of central Marfa. Marfa House is steps from all the shops, restaurants, and galleries of central Marfa, and its lighted walkway and keypad entry at the rear make your excursions easy.
