Exquisite, recently renovated studio apartment

There is hot water at the property. It is operated by a switch, which has to be turned on. The guest was messaged with instructions on the unit, including:- how to check in, how to operate the water heater, how to operate the tv/cable etc, where to find garbage bags, extra toiletry etc. These instructional messages are sent to every guest. Guest chose to contact me through the security guard at the premises, on the very same phone number, that is listed in the reservation by VRBO. I also messaged the guest directly on the phone number provided by VRBO through WhatsApp (on the event that his phone was not roaming). There was no response or acknowledgement of the message by the guest. The guest had my telephone number, email address and I can also be reached on the VRBO app. All contact information for the host is stated in the reservation by VRBO. This is mandatory.

This is an instant where the guest reported that the water was ‘draining slowly’ at the face basin, and the plumber could not be secured on short notice, with one day remaining on the guest’s stay. The guest was informed in writing of our efforts. However, the issue could not be resolved before check out. Unfortunately, unexpected issues may arise during a guest’s stay, which affects the guest’s comfort. And for that we apologize. However, this discomfort, should not trigger reviews steeped in pettiness and contrived issues. The unit comes with black out drapes and blinds. For additional sunlight, the guest can utilize the side feature to either open the blinds, or lift the entire blinds for full sunlight. The lighting is entirely within the guest’s control. The listing, includes a photograph of the flat screen tv mounted on the wall, with dimensions. If a guest is unable to read the ‘guide’, then that is not an issue with the TV. The iron and the kettle work perfectly (and are now being used by the current guest), and there was no complaint concerning the iron or tv from Michelle. There was also no complaint of dirty utensils. We have never handed over the unit with unclean utensils to a guest.

Highly misleading and dishonest review. The “issue”, was that this guest somehow managed to utilize the full canister of shampoo within 4 days of her stay; a canister which no guest has ever managed to empty, irrespective of length of stay. The guest was informed, that as this is not a hotel, we only do refills during normal housekeeping requests; a service which some guests request during their stay. Housekeeping was not requested by this guest. There was no complaint by this guest re any other amenity. The unit is recently renovated.

As “pillow cases” are easily changeable, it would be useful for guests to report the specific nature of any complaints to the host, while you are in the unit, and not after you have checked out.
