Had a great time here with my family for Christmas. This cabin had everything we needed. The cabin needs a little TLC but in all it was perfect for our holiday family reunion. Will definitely be back!
This is our 3rd or 4th time staying here. It's a great cabin if you're looking for lots of rooms and bathrooms, a nice open deck right up against some gorgeous cedar trees, a very casual vibe, and a great overall setting. It's set pretty far from other cabins and yet is really easy to get to with plenty of parking and easy access to highway 4. The owners communicate well and respond to texts. It's not fancy, but it is a very comfortable place with a lot of character, and a great place to hang out with friends or family.
The property was great, but air conditioning would have been a plus.

My family and I loved our stay at this property so much that we are already planning to book it once again. We can’t wait to spend another unforgettable weekend. Keep up the good work and we’ll be back soon.
The cabin was very nice and roomy. Plenty of room for all 18 of us. Very clean with all the amenities. Very organized spacious kitchen and provided plenty of dishes, cups and silverware. We loved our stay. There was fun to be had by all of us. We were a group with age range from 3 to 93. The location is right off the main highway with plenty of parking.
Okay and clean property. we stayed for 3 days. Owner was very responsive. But the property needs some upgrades, especially kitchen appliances and utensils. We were short of some pillows and blankets.
The house was fully equipped, clean, the beds were all comfortable. Great communication with the owners before, during and after our stay. My only recommendation is some medal shovels, we had a blizzard during our stay and the shovels provided made it hard to dig the cars out. If you have any plans of building a car port to sustain the snow, that would be amazing 😊. My family and friends will definitely be coming back.

Spacious mountain lodge for large family
A few items were not as advertised and a bit disappointing, but all in all our family had a great time in the lodge. The kitchen has a lot of counter space, perfect for a large family, and a good assortment of appliances, pots and pans, etc. It is right off the highway, but the highway noise was not overly bothersome. The large deck was great for family meals and sitting in the beautiful surroundings, listening to birds and relaxing. Plenty of room for hanging out together indoors and out.

Overall positive experience with a few suggestions …
More beds than we’d expected and the young kids loved the bunk bed room. Great gathering areas in living room , kitchen and lovely deck. Two laundry areas was a bonus but were disappointed in a few things… ants , no dishcloths to wipe off tables and counters and no dustpan … only a broom! Also when you have 17 people using the toilets for 6 days and nights you need more TP than 2 rolls in each bathroom…We all loved the Calaveras State Park which is just down the road and had fun at the lumber museum in Arnold and the park in Murphys with the playground and river. Would recommend this for a large group especially!

Terrible
Sorry to leave this honest comment but the house/cabin was not so good. Most of the bedrooms and bathrooms were falling apart, almost all of the sinks in the bathrooms were clogged and filthy with barely any water pressure throughout the bathrooms. The house was littered with huge ants and spiders. There was a strong odor throughout the entire house. The only place our group really enjoyed was the patio.Recommendations to the owners, please include updated pictures of the entire house and be honest about the condition of the entire property. We had to leave 1 day early because of the poor condition of the house.

Response from VrboOwner on 5 June 2025
Hi Zamary, we’re sorry to hear your stay did not meet expectations, as we aim to provide a positive experience for all our guests. After reviewing your feedback, we followed up with the homeowner, who shared the following:
-We’re not currently aware of any issues in the bedrooms or bathrooms but will look into this further. Since the listing photos were taken, the home has been updated, including a partial kitchen renovation and two remodeled bathrooms.
-The water pressure at the property may be lower than what some guests are used to, as the home operates on a well water system. This is typical for homes in the area and is functioning as intended.
-Regarding the insect concerns, it’s possible that a combination of elevated seasonal activity and the two-week gap between guest stays contributed to the issue. Our pest control provider has been informed and has adjusted the monthly service accordingly.
-Our cleaning team services the home regularly, but they’ve been notified of the odor you mentioned so we can investigate further. We remain committed to maintaining and enhancing the property, as we have done over the past twenty years.
Thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay!
The space itself is great, many rooms lots of common areas great kitchen. However, this property was not cleaned nor linens and towels washed prior to our arrival. We arrived at 11 PM after four hours of road travel to a house that was dirty, trash not taken out and bed still with previous guests dirty linens on them. We ended up spending the next 3 to 4 hours washing linens to even be able to sleep that night. Not the way you want to start your first night of vacation . On top of a dog, reception is very spotty and not easy to communicate with host even with Wi-Fi. As I said, the location of the house itself is beautiful and the space is great but the preparation for new guests was not.
My experience renting this property was great! Had an awesome time with my family. Owner responded back to us in timely manner. Although 1 chair was kind of broken and some pool table stick were not working properly. Other than that, my experience at this rental home was awesome. Very spacious for family vacation. Inside was clean and outside patio was nice to sit and enjoy the view and breeze.
Our stay at the lodge was a great one! We had a fabulous time and all the small extras were definitely appreciated, seasonings, pots, pans, speakers, all the outside and inside sitting space was perfect for our group. Parking was fabulous.
You can definitely see all the stars in the evenings! Such a wonderful sight! Great place for larger size families.
We had a great stay with 12 adults and 4 kids under 9. The home is set up to accommodate a large group like ours. The owner was very nice and easy to work with.
One of the best layouts thus far to fit our large group. Great amenities and location
The owner was very friendly and easy to communicate with. The kitchen set up was perfect for our families to gather, eat, drink and play all at the same time. Having 5 bathrooms was priceless too. We enjoyed the tv set up with netflix and the fireplace too. A few minor issues but nothing in comparison to all the amazing things this place offers.
Not prepared for emergencies but took our recommendations seriously
This home was not prepared for emergencies. A power outage, snowed in, etc. However we gave all the information to the property owners, they took all our recommendations seriously and have plans for the future, things on order and were very receptive of our information. We had a lot of fun as a family and with a home this large able to accommodate my family of 20 people, we really did still enjoy our stay. I previously reviewed my stay as a 3 star, but with the communication from the owner after our stay, I would like to change it to a 4 star review.
The home had plenty of sleeping spaces and bathrooms to accommodate 20 people. The kitchen and seating was enough. The couch and familyroom seating was large for what we needed. There were separate spaces to go to get away from the noise. There was snow right out our front door, so even though we were snowed in and couldn't take a car somewhere, we had snow right in our front yard and could sled, build a snowman and do snow angles. It was great for the kids ages 7-15 years old. We brought games and drinks and plenty of food to keep us occupied. We had an all around great trip. Many laughs and many memories. It didn't go off without a hitch (or two or three) but as a family we made the most of it and appreciated the opportunity to stay together.
