It is a great house with a spectacular location. Located just across the road from Stratton's 'Lower Wanderer' trail -- with instant access to the resort --, it is also a two minute drive to Stratton's Village, and 20 minutes to the Manchester Designer Shopping Outlets. This is also one of the best times to ski in Vermont. With six bedrooms and many additional sleeping areas, the house will sleep up to 18 comfortably. Other amenities include a two-car garage, two jacuzzzies, cable TV, wireless internet, DVD players, BBQ, and a great sound system on the main floor.


Trail. 5,000 square foot home with 6 Bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms. 3 Bedrooms have private baths. Ski-in/Ski-out convenience.

All the resort amenities: 2 two-person whirlpool tubs, Cable TV, Wireless Internet, Phone, etc.... Large Ski/Mud Room, Game Room, Living Room, Dining Room, Family Room w/Queen Sleeper, Crib. Great for family reunions!

Best Trip Ever

We had a FABULOUS stay at the “Great Escape”. The home is exactly as listed on VRBO, but what you don’t see is how large and spacious the it is. The massive mud room upon entry was extremely helpful for storing everyone’s ski gear. The “Great Escape” with its amazing views is beautiful, modern, clean and in the perfect location. The trail to Stratton which is directly across the street is a skiers dream, and also the shuttle drives by the house many, many times throughout the day. The owner was friendly and quick to respond to all of my questions prior to our arrival. Will definitely book again!!

Great Housy

We had a wonderful stay at the great escape! The house is very nice and roomy. The kitchen is beautiful. I was a little unclear on the sleeping options so here is more detail. The house has 3 bedrooms(2 have a double bed and one has a queen and two singles) and a tv room with sleeping couch and door on the ground floor (half basement- ground level on back and side of house). The first floor (ground level at front of house) has a kitchen, dining area and vaulted ceiling living room with a great fireplace. The top floor has three bedrooms (king and double or queen) and the game room with two sleep couches, a fooze ball table and a door. I liked that both the non bedroom sleeping options had doors. It was very clean, well supplies with paper products, spices, kitchen equipment. The coffee maker has one of those metal filters so you don’t need to worry about paper filters. The linens were good quality, both sheets and towels. The walk to the ski hill was short, maybe 200 or 300 steps. We had to take shuttles home or get picked up because the run wasn’t open when we were there and that was easy as well. I wound definitely stay here again and recommend the house to anyone with a large group.

Incredible weekend in Stratton

This house is in an incredible location. It really made our weekend easier because we had all types of skiers with us. So the mountainside location became our meeting point. The house accommodated everyone and the large kitchen, dining and living room was perfect for the group. Also the owner is very nice and low-key which made the experience even better. we will be renting this house again!

Great house and fantastic location- either a 2 min drive to Stratton base, or ski in ski off the Lower Wanderer trail straight to the Gondola. Plenty of room and kitchen was well equipped. Thank you for a great weekend!

Not ski on ski off

The house is NOT SKI ON SKI OFF. You have to walk across the street down the block and through the woods to get to the trail. The owner was helpful when I called him for help, but the problem was that everything was so poorly organized, that I had to call for information or to get things fixed multiple times. For example, the instructions I was sent did not say how I should get in to the house (keys etc), get on to the ski trail from the house, or get the bus to the lodge that I had to figure out only runs on weekends. There isn't even a house book with general information. The house was 4 beds short of what appears on VRBO when we arrived, and is overall a bit dated and run down, especially the bathrooms.
