About this property

Oak Grove B&B second-floor suite with two rooms no pets

The entire upstairs, with beautiful landscape views of ancient oaks and flowers, has two large bedrooms, a hallway and a sun-filled bathroom. The blue room has a canopy double bed and a comfortable seating area. And the Thomas Day room with twin beds. Dogs not allowed in these rooms. Breakfast included.

Set aside your hectic life for a moment and let us pamper you, where the pace is slower and the hospitality warm.

Your visit to Oak Grove Plantation starts with a glass of lemonade or iced tea served leisurely on our front porch overlooking 400 acres full of Southern pines, oaks and teeming with wildlife…crickets, birds, frogs, box turtles and an occasional fox.

After you are shown your room, you will be given a leisurely tour of the innkeeper’s ancestral home, including 48 solar panels and the electric car charger. After the tour, you will have plenty of time to see Civil War and Revolutionary War landmarks, car racing venues, antique shops, lakes and museums. In the evening, we’ll direct you to some of the area’s fine restaurants, not far from the Bed & Breakfast.

After a refreshing night’s sleep in one of the three guest rooms, you’ll awaken to the smell of our specialties such as Cluster Springs Egg Puff, Lemon Souffle Pancakes, homemade biscuits or muffins and coffee or other delicious choices in the Victorian dining room, with the sun shining in through the full-length bay windows.

Free parking and wi-fi.

Wonderful Hosts
We truly enjoyed the property. The owners were very nice and the breakfast was my favorite. The property is beautiful. I slept better in those two nights than I have slept in the last month.

Charming B&B!
Pickett is as gracious hostess! This property has been in her family for 4 generations, going back to 1820 when the first part of the house was built. The architectural details and antiques of the house are incredibly interesting. Oh, and did I mention what a great cook she is??!! We had her Cluster Springs egg bake one morning, it was spectacular (recipe is on her website). Another morning we had a delicious homemade apple cake as a side. Very quiet and serene, the birds serenaded us in the mornings and we slept with the windows open at night. All in all, an excellent experience and we shall return!

Dog Friendly and Beautiful
The property is huge and perfect to walk around and see the stars and local flora. My puppy had a great time and was very welcome to play with owners dogs. We brought a crate to minimize accidents and we had our own entrance for easy bathroom breaks. The building itself was wonderful; like living in a piece of growing history. Each generation of the family added something, and did it with class so it flows instead of feeling stilted. Would definitely live to come back and I highly reccomend it for a place to just relax. Resturaunts are minimal; excluding chains. Attractions are also minimal; if nothing else, this B n B is an attraction in it's own right. Thank you for having us!

About the host

Oak Grove Plantation has been occupied by my family since 1820. I enjoy telling visitors stories about the plantation’s past, its founding by Virginia legislator Thomas Easley, the impact of the Civil War, the heyday of tobacco growing and the farm’s conversion to pine trees in recent years.

As an avid hiker, I have walked the C&O Canal in Washington, the Camino de Santiago in Spain and areas around San Francisco, but I find the hiking on our five miles of trails the best of all. I’d love to lead you on a hike. --Pickett Craddock
