Great house for a large group. Big kitchen which was a big plus for us. We had a dinner theme every night. Some minor repairs needed during our stay, one fixed promptly and one the host never got back to us after initial contact. Overall a really lovely place , would give a 5 except for the repair issue .
Allen and Beverley are the best hosts on the planet. The house was fantastic and beautifully equipped. Everything was beyond perfect. If you’re staying in the area and you rent a different house, you’re making a huge mistake. I hope to come back again soon.

Actually a very nice place seriously marred
This is a very hard review to write. This really is a nice property, in a nice location, and it’s large enough for an extended family. We were 12 including 3 kids. It’s pretty well equipped for a rental property. We really did have a great vacation based here.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend that you stay here. The owner had a significant problem (a leak in the 3rd floor bathroom) which they had known about for some time. There was a laminated sign on it when we arrived that said don’t use it. They didn’t tell us about it before we arrived. That meant that instead of the advertised 3 ½ baths, there were only 2 ½. They wouldn’t fix it while we were there -- we asked them to even though we knew it would be a mess. They have a management company that manages the property (Evolve) who did a poor job of communicating, and when I tried to escalate this problem to Vrbo, they deflected me, with no choice in the matter, to Evolve. I have no contract with Evolve, I didn’t agree to deal with them. I was forced to.
This is the only bathroom on the 3rd floor, and the bed layout pretty much pushes kids to be up there. It’s an older house, so stairwells are steep. Asking kids (especially the 5-6 year olds that are potty trained but sort of just barely) come down the stairs if they need the bathroom at night was a real problem, complicated by the fact that we had a pregnant lady up there also. The owner seemed to think this was an inconvenience. For us, it was a serious problem.
Please note that they did eventually agree that I was due consideration for the property not being as described, and they unilaterally decided what compensation should be without even asking if I was okay with it.
So, given how the owner and the owner’s management company treats issues like this, I don’t think you should risk your vacation here, or for that matter, any Evolve managed property.
The rest of the place is actually pretty nice. Lots of room. The deck is huge and makes the place stand out: room for everyone at the table, nice views. We're experienced rental home users. This place, except for the problem, really is pretty good.
But I would never rent it again.
Solomon's Landing was a spacious accommodation for our extended family of 13 with ample bedrooms and bathrooms and a large property to explore, play yard games in, and view wildlife in. Close proximity to Wiscasset, groceries, and several really nice local hikes on the island.
Perfect place for our small family reunion. We loved the house, enormous yard, fire pit, and river view and dock. Saw two bald eagles fly overhear while we were on the deck. Owner stopped by on first night to make sure everything was ok and offered us the use of her golf cart to help my 86 year old mom get to and from river. One thing to be aware of: the stairs of this 200-year-old house are very steep. One of us was local and brought 2 kayaks, which was awesome - the water is too cold to swim, but we really enjoyed being on river. Suggestion for owners: Kayaks might be a nice addition to the house infrastructure.
My large family (13) and I had a Wonderful time , the house was spacious and Clean .While it was an older home on the outside it had been totally modernized on the inside. The large field was perfect for outdoor activities for the whole family. The Cove behind the house had a new very large Deck, and Boat Dock which handled our 28ft. Boat . The sheltered calm Cove allowed for the young ones to go kayaking and Paddle boarding . Fishing was great and we were very close to stores, attractions and other amenities. , The view from the back Porch is breathtaking, This rental is It is a Keeper
