Great place for a quiet get away

This is a great place for a couple or small family looking for a quiet place to get away and enjoy the White or Buffalo river. The place is very nice and off the beaten path for those looking to escape for a few days.

Excellent place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay at the Cottage in Cotter, it’s really larger than it looks, we stayed 5 days and the covered deck for grilling had to be my favorite wish it could’ve been cooler but I loved it, I picked up a little fan at the DG and was set, we would definitely stay here again, very well stocked with anything you need to cook can’t wait to go back. Thank You Joey and family for such a nice clean home to stay in.

Charming Cotter Cottage

Nicely remodeled Cottage. Close to the river and multiple area parks. My children were pleasantly surprised to find there were tennis and pickle ball courts just a few blocks away. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice rental!

Very clean, had more than we expected-spices, zip lock bags, deep fryer and grill, high pressure shower with nozzle hose , “outside towels”, games, white noise maker at each bedside, plenty of hangars, to name a few. Decor was outstanding for a fisherman. Very near the White River.

Cute Cottage with interesting history

Great place for two couples or a family. Near all the activities on the White River. The owner has updated the inside and the kitchen is well equipped. The backyard is equipped for grilling or frying your catch. It also has a great fire-pit and play area for younger kids. The owner lives nearby and was a great source for information on the area.

Wonderful home to stay in!

We had the pleasure of staying in this well cared for home. Delightfully decorated and close to so many oudoor activities. Our favorite thing about this home? The relaxing front AND back porches. The host, Joey, made sure to keep in contact which was very much appreciated. Everything we could possibly need was furnished for us. We just brought our clothes and groceries. Would definitely stay here again!

Great cottage!

From the time of the reservation until check out, the owner initiated and maintained communication. He was very focused on making sure we had any relevant local info and answered a couple inquiries within minutes. We were in Cotter to fish the White River-as we’ve done for years. The location is ideal to access several launch and wade in locations. The cottage was very clean and well maintained and as portrayed in the listing. The rear access makes it super easy to unload all your luggage and gear. Grocery stores and restaurants are minutes away. On our next trip we will surely look at the availability of this property. Thanks Joey!

great remodel

Joey did an excellent job remodeling an older home. It was very well maintained and clean.Plenty of towels and washcloths to use. Which hasn't always been the case with other properties, in my experience. The shower gel and shampoo dispenser was a nice touch as well.I would definitely visit again if I get back to the area.Loved the Patrick McManus book collection as well.

Was not what we were expecting

Lots of beetles inside and outside the residence. Patios were covered in leaves and bugs as well as spider webs. Parking was horrible, with the rain we got stuck trying to get out. Very old furniture and very uncomfortable beds. Loud running train all night long every night. Website pictures very deceiving, residence was very old. Front steps very steep. Was not satisfied. bedsbeds.

About the host

Hi! I'm Joey; I live with my wife Chrystal, daughter Kylee and son Kaleb and we love living in Cotter! We have family roots that run deep in this beautiful area. My great great grandmother was Native American and came to this area by the way of the Trail of Tears. My grandmother was born and raised in Cotter, and my wife's family also has deep roots. Most of her family have been guiding trout fisherman up and down the crystal clear waters of the White River for over 40 years. Cotter truly is a peaceful, gorgeous place that once you visit you will not want to leave. I would love to talk with you and answer any questions you may have.

Why they chose this property

COTTER ROCK COTTAGE ROCKS!
This Historic town and house mean a lot to our family, and we have taken great pride in remodeling the house to make it special. We love living in Cotter, love this house, love sharing it and hope you will love it as much as we do. We hope you come and make many unforgettable memories to cherish as we have.

Thank you,
The Shaw Family

What makes this property unique

This house and area have many simple yet unique benefits. The house dates back to the early 30's, is stone and has beautiful white stone arches that resemble our Historic. R. M. Ruthven Rainbow Arch Bridge. Photographers and painters have taken the opportunity to using the home as a subject of their art. We have taken many family photos on the front steps as have people passing by. The tree in the front yard is a favorite of the kids and a great photo op for Mom, Dad, Grandparents, family and friends. The front porch is great for morning coffee and relaxing. The White River is just 2 min. away, Cotter Big Spring Park is 2 minute away with many offerings; swimming hole, boat launch, picnic area, playground, and the Anglin-Tinnon Railroad Workers' Memorial. There is a two-mile walking trail that begins at the park and runs upstream along the White River to Denton Ferry, a part of the Trail of Tears. There is also a bike trail, basketball court, volley ball, baseball field, pavilion, caves along the walking trail, and much more. Oh! Let's not forget about the White River. One of the most memorable sites in Cotter is the R. M. Ruthven Rainbow Arch Bridge. Dedicated in 1930, the bridge spans the White River and is on the National Historic Register.
