About this property
Gerron Park by Contemporary Hotels
This handsome Southern Highlands homestead is perfect for family escapes and sophisticated gatherings with friends. Perched above Wingecarribee Lake on hectares of rolling countryside, it combines modern luxuries and rural charm.
With five bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living rooms, four verandahs, a three-car garage, tennis court and in-ground pool, it has space to accommodate the whole gang. Visitors will be struck by the functionality of the property: its multiple living areas, including a spectacular open-plan farmhouse style kitchen with modern appliances and island bench, mean everyone can have their own space.
The extensive grounds feature both manicured gardens and green paddocks, with rows of poplars and a graceful willow tree draped over the manicured lawn. The sizeable swimming pool provides a wonderful place to kick back and beat the heat, or you can work up a sweat on the tennis court.
The home has been styled with tasteful combination of modern and vintage furnishings. The refectory style dining table in the kitchen provides an informal place to eat, though the formal dining room and al-fresco verandah table are also options.
The enormous wraparound verandah is perhaps the property's most notable feature, providing places to lay back with a book, enjoy a cup of coffee or keep an eye on the pool. The five bedrooms give a range of sleeping configurations, with a master king, three queens and a twin single setup for the kids.
What the Owners Love
From the extensive verandah to the classic tin roof dotted with brick chimneys, the homestead itself is country living at its best. The living and dining rooms both feature open wood fires, perfect for those chilly Southern Highlands evenings. The bedrooms are charming and comfortable, especially the master, which features views of the grounds, an en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. The formal gardens around the house are a wonderful place for a stroll, though if you fancy something longer the area features some of Australia's best bushwalking, including the 1.25km wildflower walk at the spectacular Fitzroy Falls.
What We Love
The Southern Highlands is one of the country's most coveted locations, and it's easy to see why. The crisp, bright mornings, the old-fashioned countryside, the cute towns full of bric-a-brac shops and heritage buildings. This delightful property puts you in the centre of it all, tucked away from the tourist crowds. The towns of Kangaroo Valley and Bowral are only 20 minutes away, with plenty of opportunities for shopping, sightseeing and fine dining.
What the Family Traveller Loves
This home is the perfect family escape because it provides something for everyone. The kids can enjoy the pool and the tennis court, or simply get outside to explore in the open air. At home in the evenings, younger guests will be happy to enjoy a movie or boardgames in the family living room while mums and dads enjoy a glass of wine under the lights on the verandah.
