Riverwind Lodge is an exquisite timber frame mountain retreat on just over three riverfront acres! Rolled into one palatial mountain home you'll find just about every detail and amenity you can desire in a vacation home.

For those of you who appreciate design, you'll be inspired by the architecture and the remarkable details of this cabin. Really, “cabin” doesn't do the house justice—this home's a galaxy away from what we think of when we think of Daniel Boone! Wherever your eye comes to rest, you'll be delighted! Vaulted ceilings, architectural detailing, bark and stone siding, Prairie-style windows, fabulous lighting fixtures, plus a perfectly designed kitchen with an island, stone counters, stainless appliances (including a beverage fridge) and two toned cabinetry—that's just the start of the arresting details! Bathrooms have furniture-style vanities and gorgeous stone tile showers and the master bathroom has heated stone floors, perfect for chilly mornings.

And we haven't even begun with the setting and the decorating! There are ample porches, open and covered from which to soak in the view of either the mountains or the river below or enjoy a blazing fire during the “in-between” season in the wood-burning porch fireplace. Inside you'll find super comfy furniture around the fireplaces (both gas log for extra convenience) in the living room and family room downstairs. This is house designed to spread out and enjoy in almost 4000 beautifully appointed square feet! Perfect for a large group, with six bedrooms which sleep up to 12 people, and three bathrooms (one on each floor). The bedrooms are spread out, also—2 on the main floor, the master upstairs, and 3 more downstairs.

High-speed internet means that if you have to do some business while on vacation, you can, or stream your favorite shows on your phone or iPad.

The cabin is beautifully landscaped with the river below. Here, you get the best of both worlds, as there's a mountain view, too. The cabin enjoys just shy of 700 feet of river frontage!

This cabin is situated between Jefferson and Lansing, just north of Phoenix Mountain, on right on the banks of the North Fork of the New River (which is stocked with trout farther upstream, so try your luck.

From this location, you are only minutes from the Molley Chomper Hard Cidery in the old WPA school in Lansing. You can do a taste-testing of while playing games. Also in Lansing is Pie on the Mountain, a great spot for pizza. Go for a walk at the Lansing Creeper Park, where you'll music throughout the summer.

You are just a few minutes from West Jefferson, the county's beating heart. Much awaits you here – restaurants, shops, festivals, gallery crawls, a thriving farmer's market offering product to plants to art, and the Florence Thomas Art School. There are lots of antique stores and art galleries, too! Many of the restaurants offer outdoor (and one has rooftop) seating, plus music throughout the year.

Mount Jefferson offers programs, hiking trails, and amazing views. There's always the New River for a happy day's float or a leisurely drive on the Parkway--check out the historic Brinegar Cabin at Doughton Park, or the Parkway's Northwest Trading Post. From Riverwind Lodge, you'll have easy access to the vistas, historic cabins, wild ponies and trails just over the NC/VA line at Grayson Highlands State Park.

Then, of course, there's always the delicious option of chilling at the cabin.

Sorry, but Riverwind Lodge is not pet-friendly.

There are external cameras monitoring the public areas outside of the cabin driveway and entrance for security and to monitor winter access.

Lovely to Look At, But . . . .
We researched a long time before we chose this property, and we booked it based on its description on VRBO. We have booked a lot of VRBO/Homeaway properties, with no surprises during any our stays. This is the very first negative experience we've had. The instructions we received in our contract and what was in the directions/guidebook in the house differed on many items, and I won't go into all of it here, but it was significant enough for me to call the management company, and that took MANY calls before we finally got through. One very significant detail for this property not shared on the VRBO site is that all refuse is the renter's responsibility--it must be hauled to designated facilities and it is a minimum thirty minute drive each way. With our nine people who included a one year old child still in diapers, that was an every-other-day adventure. There was a question I emailed before we left for North Carolina that was never answered, and now I know why. There is a lovely river that runs at the rear of the property and I'd asked how steep the grade was because we were bringing children. No answer to that, and we found out why when we arrived. It is STEEP AS HECK and no one should be renting a house with a descent like that until they restore and secure a path. OR as we thought, at least tie some heavy rope to the trunks of the large trees to give something to hold onto. It was treacherous to say the least, especially after five days of rain. We had the septic back-up and the workmen revealed it wasn't their first or even third time at the property. This caused some fear of the basement toilet. The other oddity was the shooting of guns close by (the other side of the river) on the first two nights, well past bedtime. And it was a significant amount of ammo being used. Another family nearby heard it too. We were informed by the sheriff in town on our third day (while on a garbage run) that this was normal and legal. So, I'd say we enjoyed nature, the sounds of the river, the fireplaces and comfortable furnishings and time to be together after many months apart. But in the interest of happy vacationers, VRBO/Stay Blue Ridge should fully disclose ALL aspects of the rental experience so that everyone knows what it will entail. Renter's should know they'll be driving a long way on winding roads with vehicles containing smelly trash bags and maybe get some gun noise at midnight. By the way, BE SURE TO BRING SOME GARBAGE BAGS with you!

Family summer getaway
okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk'/We had a wonderful time. The house is gorgeous, and the location on a branch of the New River is spectacular. .. beautiful views everywhere you look and the sound of rushing water ... We felt immersed in nature which is exactly what we wanted. Comfortable beds, nicely updated bathrooms, well-supplied kitchen, huge TV, great wi-fi. It's a hike getting down to the water's edge ... the adults needed hiking sticks! but it's well worth it to lounge in the hammock. Very clean and had everything we needed! We'll be back!

Weekend Escape
This house was awesome! Easy to get to. House was in perfect condition. Loved Loved Loved!! Even when we had roughly 2 inches of snow, the roads within the private community were scrapped by noon so we could exit the private property and make it to the main roads. Huge Plus!! Beautiful views all around from any window or point outside. This weekend was one for the books!

My daughter picked this cabin out for a family weekend to come cut a Christmas tree.. And it did not disappoint. The location, ease of finding it and getting to it was great as well. With the cabin having 3 floors, it was the perfect size and setup for everyone to have their own space.. And the outdoor area/fireplace was awesome! We will absolutely stay here again and HIGHLY recommend this cabin, and stay blue ridge with their great customer service!
