The Garden Retreat is the perfect oasis in the city. We are within walking distance of everything you need from stores to restaurants to all the major attractions including the Royal BC Museum, Fishermans Wharf, Beacon Hill park and much much more.

This is a self check in with two private entrances and is ideal for short or longer stays.

\There is so much to do from renting bikes to strolling our waterfront or hanging out in Beacon Hill park for the day.

This is a one bedroom open concept cottage with a beautiful back private patio.

Inside your private cottage you will find a king size bed that is beyond comfortable with high quality linens, both plush and memory foam pillows as well as a soft cozy goose down duvet. The comfort continues with thick and fluffy towels and luxurious spa bathrobes.

The full sized kitchen comes equipped with a stove and oven, microwave, full sized fridge, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, and a vita mix blender upon request. Also provided, are dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots and pans and other essentials. Coffee, teas, creamers are also available .

There is a washer and dryer for your convenience.

We are steps from the Clipper and Coho ferry so perfect for leaving your car at home.

You can park your vehicle in the driveway and if possible pull in close to the fence and close to the gate as that way I can park my personal vehicle as well.

This private cottage is everything you could want for any season in Victoria!

James Bay Gem

This was the perfect home away from home. We enjoyed the proximity to everything (so central). It is an easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go and when we ventured further, the bus was so close. The cottage had everything and more than we needed. It was super comfy and cozy! Dianne is the perfect hostess - always checking in to ensure that all is well, giving us other activity options and just her overall welcoming spirit - we feel we have known her for years and we hope that will come true! -- Yvonne & Mike

As an avid traveler myself I love hosting other travellers! My life has been an adventure, starting out in the film industry, going on to working at the TV station in Victoria for many years as a sound person with the news and ending with owning and operating Victoria Carriage Tours for 24 years while raising my three daughters. After selling my carriage business I competed with the Canadian National Dragonboat team and paddled for 6 years. Eight years ago I decided it was time to settle down (at least part of the year) and open my home to other travelers. This has been one of the most validating and rewarding things I have ever done. My guests have been kind, warm, interesting and wonderful. I look forward to hosting you and thank you for choosing my home to stay in while visiting Victoria. I know you will love it!

Why they chose this property

Location is everything! Situated in historic James Bay we are minutes away from shopping, groceries, pharmacy, liquor store, coffee shops and cafes as well as many great neighborhood restaurants. I have owned my property for 43 years and it is as safe now as the day I moved in. If you enjoy biking there is a new bike lane right in front of the house and this is such an ideal location for walking everywhere.

What makes this property unique

Staying in our very safe, peaceful, residential neighborhood you can leave your car at home and walk most everywhere! There is a bus stop a half block up the street which will connect with buses to downtown as well as a few blocks more and you can catch a bus to the ferries and Butchart Gardens. Walk 3 blocks and hop on the Clipper and Coho ferries. Well behaved pets are welcome, just let us know in advance of booking. Missing your fur baby! Cats and two Havanese pups on property are always available for cuddling! Arriving early? We will happily let you leave your bags with us in the main house so you can get an early start on exploring. Leaving late? Leave your things with us after checkout and pick them up when you are ready.
