About this property
Completely renovated historic home, ideal location in town, walk to everything
This 1,200 sq. ft. home in Telluride can sleep up to 7 (1 queen bed, 1 full bed and 3 twin beds). It has with 2 full baths, a stand-up kitchen with gas range and dishwasher. The living room with a gas fireplace looks directly toward Ballard and Wasatch Mountains. Other amenities include wifi, a laundry closet with washer/dryer, and great views of Ingram Falls, Bear Creek and the ski area. Located only 3 blocks from Colorado Avenue (aka "Main St."), on the sunny side of town next to the Telluride Historical Museum, shopping, dining, skiing, mountain biking, and hiking are all within easy walking distance from the front door.
There is 1 parking space for off-street parking and a “G” Zone pass to display on the rear-view mirror for a second vehicle to park on the street in the immediate neighborhood. This house has been in our family since 1963 and was renovated and enlarged in 1998. Currently, the front portion of the property includes a separate residence with a full-time occupant. Tomboy Road begins right behind the house and is a starting point for several hikes and high basin adventures. The neighborhood is entirely residential, with the exception of the Telluride Historical Museum, and is a quiet retreat from the activities downtown. The gondola and Lift #8 are a short 6-block walk from the house. This is a non-smoking house and no pets of any kind are allowed.

About the host
Hosted by Lissa Paak
My parents purchased this home in 1963, and it has been enjoyed by our family since then. The house was completely renovated and remodeled in 1998, (following the Historic and Architectural Review Commission recommendations). We love Telluride, the people and the area.
Why they chose this property
My parents came to Telluride in 1962 to visit a fellow artist. During that trip they fell in love with Telluride's natural beauty. This was 10 years before the ski area was started and most of the houses had been abandoned as the mines reduced, and finally ceased, production. Mom and Dad were academics in Albuquerque and had summers off. In their search for a summer escape from the New Mexico heat they thought of Telluride. When they came to town to look at properties they had to go to Norwood to even find a real estate agent! They choose the house because it was on the sunny side of the canyon and is elevated a bit to get great views. Most homes at that time were boarded up and had no paint on them anymore, so somehow, they managed to see through the deterioration and choose a great place in a wonderful location.
What makes this property unique
The house is 3 blocks from main street, so it's quiet and private. There are wonderful views out the windows and from the front porch (a favorite spot to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee). It's easy to get anywhere in Telluride by walking. While we have a car, we typically do not use it when we're in Telluride. We will walk or bike or even ski down to the gondola if there is enough snow on the streets. Our neighbors are all families that have lived there for years, making the area very peaceful and friendly.
