Superb Kiev VRBO Listing!!
Our arrival in Kiev at the end of a 1-foot snow storm went extraordinarily well. Owners arranged airport meet and transport to this perfectly situated 3-bedroom condo. The uber friendly arrival, including a full explanation of all condo features (e.g., dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, internet, lock system, and directions to tube and groceries) and discovery of the good red wine, cheese, eggs and bread laid in for us, perfectly started our first visit to Kiev. Even in the snow, the very-short walk to the subway was easy, leading to all points in the city. Tips: try the free (tip appreciated) Kiev walking tour led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable student guides. Google "Kiev free walking tour." Even if you do not enjoy classical music, you must get outrageously inexpensive tickets for a performance at the Lysenko Hall of Columns (from 1919 to 1990s Proletarian House of arts, then House of Political education, later the Bolshevik Club and Republican Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren).
Owners helped us get started on the process to obtain rail tickets for our 25-hour overnight trip from Kiev to Budapest. All for way way less than the airfare, this trip offered Dr. Zhivago-like wintry sights, a two bed compartment, a samovar at the end of the carriage for 24-hour tea and coffee service.
