Eco-studio at Maïa Gardens
Come and experience a unique stay in an ecological studio surrounded by large diversified fruit and vegetable gardens and ponds along the Portneuf river. The studio is a bright and open space with high ceilings, a living room, kitchenette and sleeping area (sofa bed), separate bathroom with shower and a compost toilet. Enjoy the peace and quiet in the heart of nature, with many nearby activities such as sightseeing in Québec city, local markets and trekking at nearby national parks. The main house is made of straw with solar panels.
The studio is an open concept with one large room (22 x 12 feet) for the kitchenette, dining room, living room with a comfortable sofa bed. The bathroom is separate with all you need - a shower, sink, toilet, cabinet for clothes and linens. The main door opens directly on the garden level where you can walk and relax on the property and enjoy nature. There is a bistro table with chairs, a plateforme with a hamac and picnic table, a rocking bench overlooking the river and a yoga plateforme for you to use to enjoy your stay here.
Please note that the studio has a compost toilet (without odor) and that Internet is not wifi but cabled, with adaptors provided to connect to a laptop with a USB entry slot, USB-C and for an iPhone.

I recently purchased this eco-house in April 2021 and layed out extensive fruit and vegetable gardens with permaculture design, and integrative approach with nature. Many volunteers have come to lend a helping hand and learn about ecology and organic farming. Renting the house is also important to provide a window into this unique lifestyle for visitors to enjoy during their short stays.
Prior to that, and this is reflected in the studio with many asian treasures, I lived and worked in Asia in international development helping small producers develop their products and access to markets. We look forward to welcome you at Maïa Gardens.

This house and its studio is one model of how to make this happen, and what it can be like to live in an ecological environment. In all seasons, the gardens are also examples of the extensive and delicious fruits and vegetables that we can grow in cold climates such as that of Québec.
