Quiet and relaxing stay

This is a great option if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway. The lake is ideal for swimming and using the SUP and paddle boat. The selection of DVDs and board games provided were great for downtime and rainy days. The beds were comfortable and the house has everything you need! We couldn't get any cell service in the immediate area, but if you are looking to switch off, this shouldn't be a problem! Overall a really good stay!

Nice family cottage

Enjoyed our one week stay at the cottage. The cottage was clean and inviting and the host was very quick to reply to any of our questions. Also, was given lots of ideas of things to do around the cottage!

Fabulous getaway with lake access!

Newly renovated, very clean, all amenities and then some. All sorts of games and watercraft and direct lake access to a very quiet lake. Very friendly and communicative host, was available to help us out with anything we needed. Would definitely go back!

Beautiful cottage!

We rented this for the first weekend of June. Although the weather did not work in favour for part of our stay, the cottage and the scenery made up for the shortfall in the weather. Our host Mark and Chrissy continuously kept us informed up to the day of our stay… gave us the best suggestions on things to do around and places to eat and their recommendations were dead on! Couldn’t have been more pleased with our short vacation. The cottage is nestled in a peaceful area with enough privacy from other nearby cottages. We had the lake to ourselves this weekend and it was beautiful. The living space was clean and beautifully decorated and stocked with enough indoor activities for those rainy days. The outdoor had the privacy of a private docking station with canoe, SUP and paddle boat, bunch of outdoor games, bbq, fire pit and eating and sitting area. The kids loved the whole experience as well (minus the bugs which we were also warned about)! Overall amazing experience! Will definitely recommend to family and friends and book again for future.

About the host

We purchased this property in 2021 to honour the passing of my mother. She was a life long cottager with her family. She loves spending time at the cottage and would love the idea our's and other families enjoying being outside and active on the water and telling stories by a camp fire.

Why they chose this property

Palmer Rapids and Renfrew county has some of the best White Water spots in Ontario. My wife and I are life long paddlers and wanted a place where our 2 boys could learn to play and enjoy the outdoors. The area has many outfitters within an hour drive where you can raft, canoe or Kayak in Madawaska and Ottawa rivers. We also enjoy the proximity to Ottawa (1hr 45min), The East Gate of Algonquin Park (1hr 15min) or many of the other provincial parks in the area for day trips and as a launching pad to bigger adventures.

What makes this property unique

Quiet! The 2 acres woods blocks any road noise and the lake has only a handful of cottages and year round homes with very little motor boat usage. Depending on the season you find various species of birds to watch including a loon family that nest on the lake in June and July. The cottage is tucked in a small corner of the lake meaning there is a tone of privacy.
