Wonderful property with lots of space and it has everything you need and more. Was great to be supplied with bread and milk especially because shops arent close by.
Great country location, excellent venue for a family or group of friends wanting a weekend or a few days away. Well set up for self catering. Its an oldie but a goodie. Great hosts
Delightful stay! Great hosts, roomy but cozy, comfortable accommodation with everything we needed...and our little dog had a great time too. Unusual to find a fenced property that will actually keep a small dog in without worrying. Beautiful area, and we will definitely go back!!
A lovely comfortable and peaceful stay.
We really appreciated the wisdom Cath shared with us. She's such a lovely person who really made us feel welcome.
This was the perfect relaxing weekend from a busy Auckland lifestyle! The hosts are amazing, made early check-in available. We were able to leave our dog at the property when we popped out to Palmy. The fireplace was absolutely amazing!! We had such a good time, thank you so much!! We will definitely come back for another weekend stay!
We enjoyed our stay alot. Nice and peaceful for all of us. We had me and my partner stay with our five pre teen, teenages and we had great time also the dog. Easter egg hunt was the hardest they have ever done. Great hosts and we will be back in summer time to check out the swim spots.
I had never heard of Kimbolton but it was an amazing experience being there.
The property was amazing, views, trees and a very calm and relaxing feel to it.Cath was a wonderful host and more than just a meet you an show you around person, she made you feel welcome.I will be back but will stay longer and check out more that this beautiful part of NZ has to offer…Thank you…
Large house, very comfortable, there was even food in the fridge and cupboards we could use. Friendly and helpful owners. Local pub very kind and acomodating. Quiet location. We enjoyed our stay. Came mainly to visit Crosshills Gardens, which was just across the road. Perfect
Catherine and Allister were the best hosts! A fire was lit for our pre-arranged arrival so we walked into a cozy, tidy space. The kitchen was huge and had what we needed. Shower pressure was great, second fireplace in the hallway kept all the bedrooms warm. We stayed three nights and felt so at home. The hosts made sure we haf enough firewood etc and even lit the fire for us again when we said we'd be home late from an adventure. Highly recommend.
We had a lovely 3 night stay here. A very spacious house with two woodburners, 4 bedrooms and a very large living area. Large country kitchen. Feels very private. We visited with our two kids and our small dog. The owner, Andrew, was very helpful in his communications before our stay. During our stay, Cath and Allister (who live on adjoining property) were delightful - happy to chat or leave us in peace, whichever we preferred. Cath made us vegan pasta one night at very reasonable prices. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable and great value for money. Would happily visit again.
Serene and beautiful!! We needed a break after a hectic year and we found what we were looking for!!
Our 2 dogs had a time of their lives....enjoying the fenced in property which also had a separate fenced in dog run...everything that gave them all the fun and physical activity they needed. Our host was prompt to fix an area of the fence that one of our dogs found it low and easy to jump over.
The Kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with plenty of things to meet our basic necessities.
We cannot say enough about the generosity and warmth of our wonderful hosts, Cath and Allister. They even invited us for dinner with their family on New Year's eve. We genuinely felt like we were holidaying with our friends. We look forward to staying in touch with beautiful Cath and Allister. Thank you for making it one of the best holidays that we have enjoyed within New Zealand.

Very unclean
Would have been a great stay if the home was clean. Arrived and the crumbs from the previous person was still on the bench. Could tell the kitchen had not been cleaned down before we arrived or at all. The floors were filthy. We swept the floors ourselves as we had a little one playing on the floor. We would have vacuumed if we had access to one. Floors hadn’t been mopped or properly cleaned for a long time it seemed. Was let down by the cleanliness
At the end of a busy week away from home, to come to Morunga, enjoy the quiet of a rural retreat, to feel safe & warm and to have a very "low key" weekend was wonderful.
Cath's home-cooked meals and bread making course were highlights.
The farm house is huge! The rooms are generous and the open plan kitchen family area are well thought out with all the facilities to indulge your cooking and baking desires (wood stove + conventional oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, water filter etc.). We will be back - I for one have a date with the wood stove to try a roast and a rice pudding!
Everything is clean, tidy and in plentiful supply (no shortage of towels, blankets, etc.. Once the wood stove is going - the house is warm, but this is Kimbolton I.e. it's cold, and you will need your woolies for outside. The mornings were crisp and the kids loved exploring the orchard, finding the chickens and the tree house.
Cath is great to have a yarn with and has a full commercial kitchen (as mentioned home cook meals can be purchased & bread making course is a treat you should try GF available, as well as jams, preserves etc.)& as well as retreat facilities for small groups.
Simply - this is a lovely place to stay for family groups. The Ruahines are in all their glory on your door step. You're a stones throw from the village, Kiwitea, Cheltenham and Fielding. Do yourself a favour - come stay.
Helpful accomadating hosts.provided jam vegan honey and great meal. Loverly friendly peaceful environment well appointed accommodation very comfartable beds
