The largest house at Somerset Dam. Freshly renovated with all the mod cons whilst retaining the old-world charm.

The Schoolhouse is a part of Somerset Dam Village History!
The Old Schoolhouse was built in the 1930's and has been lovingly restored as a 5 bedroom vintage home. With high ceilings, spacious rooms, original timber floor, tongue and groove walls and lake-house, nautical decor it is a wonderful blend of the old and new.

The large well-appointed kitchen has everything you need for 16 guests, it opens onto a generous dining area and lounge with a magnificent cast iron fireplace to sit by on those chilly winter nights. With 5 separate bedrooms and enough beds to sleep 16, the Old Schoolhouse is the largest rental accommodation in the Village and can easily accommodate 4 families. Additionally, the property has zoned reverse cycle ducted air conditioning.

The perfect accommodation venue for Village weddings with Coronation Hall a short 3 minute stroll away. For the bride to be and her entourage what a fantastic place to prepare for that special day with a sensational backdrop to create lifelong memories. Or equally great for our Grooms and his boys and/or family to get ready.

For the water sports enthusiasts the spit is less than 5 minutes drive away. The property has a private hard stand at the rear for boats and jetskis and an undercover area for all your wet gear. Additional parking is available in the cul-de-sac.

The large verandah, outdoor dining and bar-b-que help you and your guests enjoy time away from the city and your busy lives. In a world that stops for no-one a stay at the Old Schoolhouse will take you back to a simpler time.

This is the most luxe, comfortable stay in Somerset Village for families in proximity to the dam. The most beautiful bedding, nautical decor renovated schoolhouse with character and room for many vehicles and boats, well-appointed kitchen and relaxation areas after long days boating on the dam. We will continue to kick off each year here with our family and friends with the excitement of the stay to look forward to all year. It’s that good and you will not be disappointed.

Best place to stay, very impressed how the school house is keeped as the school house. The school desk, which had colouring books and school activities for the kids, and some adults to do. Place was big enough for all family and friends that stayed for the wedding and entertainment area was big enough for our family dinner. Would absolutely stay again. Only down side would be we had to supply our own sheets and towels. Thank you for letting us stay at the school house while enjoying the history.

We are a family of 5 who enjoy all water sports. We have been coming to Somerset Dam for over 30 years and our boys have grown up on the lake.
We bought the Schoolhouse in June 2022 after many years searching for the perfect property for our large extended family.
We loved the history of the school and tried to retain that vintage feel as we renovated and updated.
Our boys our now adults and enjoy the schoolhouse with their wives and partners and our wonderful grandchildren.
We love to share our very unique space with other families as we know how hard it is to find a space where the whole family can be together. You can easily fit 4 families in the Schoolhouse and not be on top of each other. Be sure to check out the photos of our famous bunk room!!!

The Schoolhouse is very unique and can accommodate 16 people. Even at capacity it has a spacious feel with the high ceilings and different bedroom areas. It is ideal for several families to holiday together and well priced.

As one of the original buildings in the village dating back to 1937, the Schoolhouse has a vintage feel with many original features still in place.
Additionally it is the largest property to rent in the village with 5 separate bedrooms in two of the original classrooms and 10 beds, sleeping 16.
