Spectacular views and sunsets right out the front door overlooking the harbour in this bright and airy large family home. Front and back decks for optimal views and more privacy. Chef's kitchen, appliances and open concept living and dining make this an ideal home for a family or a few couples to share. A wood stove for added coziness in the main living area. Hand crafted furniture and details around the house add to the local charm. A double desk in the office, which has a queen pull out couch for extra sleeping options. Location, location, location; close to amazing hiking trails, art galleries, artisan shops, and museums to be explored. Berries to be picked in fall and fish to be caught in summer and fall. Walking distance to a fabulous ice cream shop, the Fogo Island Inn and grocery store with gas station.

Located with a view of the ocean, a short drive to sandy cove beach and tons of trails. The yard is fenced for outdoor play and the back deck is spacious and outfitted with a baby gate for the perfect space for adults to sit out while kids play!

Very kid/baby friendly home equipped with baby gates, toys for babies and toddlers, kids/baby tableware, bibs, high chairs, booster seat, pack n play, all you'll need is to bring yourselves! Please reach out to book the baby gear for an additional charge.

We had a wonderful time at the Saltbox house. The location was perfect to fully explore Fogo island. We loved the home itself, lovingly restored, furnished and maintained, with a great view of the bay/arm. I highly recommend this property.

Beautiful home with amazing view of the ocean. Bed is very comfortable. The decor is amazing with all the art depicting the local area. Easy drive into Fogo where we had a delicious dinner at bang belly bistro. Janice sent all the information ahead of time and had a big basket filled with pamphlets and information about the island a lovely place to stay.

The Perfect Place to Stay on Fogo

We loved our stay here so much, we immediately started planning our return. A modern saltbox house that is spacious and very comfortable. Cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed Fogo.

Fabulous Stay

The saltbox was beautiful with so many aesthetic touches from exquisite furniture, to the owner’s paintings, to wonderful beach visuals of rocks and driftwood. And, of course, quilts. Everything was great and Janice responds to questions quickly and clearly. We loved our stay and would love to return.

This is a beautiful, clean and spacious house with a wonderful water view that lets you see for miles. It has a fully fenced yard for dogs, which we took advantage of. The bedrooms are roomy and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is well laid out for some serious cooking and the two living areas are very relaxing with lots of comfortable seating options. Janice, our host, is a gem - easy to communicate with and always ready to answer any questions. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

We really enjoyed our stay in the Saltbox house. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the kitchen was extremely well stocked. Janice was very responsive to any questions that I had, and was free with required recommendations. One thing to note is that only one of the bedrooms had an attached bath. We loved the art work all around and all the furniture.

Fogo Island Gem

This is a very spacious home with beautiful decor, local furniture and artwork. It was a special place to stay. Location is wonderful for walking and exploring the island. Host was always available. Highly recommend .

I think this was onw of the most intentional properties i have ever had the pleasure of staying in..everything was placed with care, intention and purpose. The blankets, beds, furniture , decor and kitchen had touches that would easily go unseen as they were placed with humility.I do not think the photos do the property justice as the house is so much more then beauty. Being able to connect with this house you can reall feel its heart and energy it has carried through its lives. Thank you again, Janice!

This is a beautiful home that has been very tastefully updated while maintaining the original character and charm of the house. There is lots of wonderful local art displayed throughout and it includes artisanal furniture and rugs from Fogo Island. The kitchen and bathrooms have been finished to highest standards and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need. Janice responded promptly to any queries and was very helpful.The Storehouse restaurant is nearby and is well worth a visit - we had a fantastic supper there.Fogo Island is an amazing place!Overall, this was one of the best vacation properties we have ever stayed at.

Nice Traditional Home in a Great Location

My wife & I spent 9 wonderful days in this beautifully renovated Salt Box home. Very comfortable with modern appliances, quality furniture (much of it locally crafted on Fogo Island) and nice decor (including original artwork by the owner). Great view of the harbor from the living areas and the small front porch. Large back deck provides more outdoor siting space. Centrally located on the "populated" side of Fogo Island close to galleries, museums, hiking trails, groceries, etc. There is some traffic noise from the road during the day, but it's quiet at night. The fenced yard is natural vegetation (which we appreciate), so don't expect a lawn. We met several friendly neighbors who shared their stories about Fogo. Overall...highly recommended!
