The space
Welcome to Terra!

This is a 4 bedroom, country home meant for large groups or families.

The values of Terra are sustainability, a low-waste mindset and respect for nature. The furnishings and contents are up-cylced, locally-sourced, vintage finds or ethically-made.

Terra is named after the earth and in the spirit of her namesake, she is decorated and designed with a commitment to being as sustainable, low-waste and earth-friendly as possible.

The 4 bedrooms are designed after the four seasons--winter, spring, summer and fall. Each has it's own unique style and furnishings consisting of vintage and up cycled pieces. The mattresses are Casper brand, a vegan company, and are made in Canada.

The kitchen is made for entertaining and is well-stocked with pantry basics such as olive oil, spices, tea and coffee.

NO SMOKING OF ANY KIND ON THE PROPERTY.
Guest access
Guest have access to the entire house (access to bedrooms based on the number of guests) and backyard. The only restricted area is the basement and the walk-in linen closet on the second floor.

Other things to note
Terra is a plant-based home. While you do not have to be vegan to stay here, we ask guests to maintain a plant-based diet during your stay. Wait! Don’t let that scare you! I know it can be daunting to think “what will we eat?” so I’ll send you links to some of my favourite vegan food bloggers for inspiration.

Please refer to the Terra House Manual for details that will contribute to your comfort.

Nice rental but a few minor pitfalls like most rentals
Enjoyed the escape overall and hope to return. Tried to book in June but weeks selected were already taken. Advert and pics slightly misleading. Many pics taken with a pro camera so enhanced images resulted, but unit size more than adequate. Minor but fireplace shown in pics replaced with electric stove. Thanks to host for asking diet observations as I survived converting 95% to vegan life for the entire week. Sunset view? View was a parking lot - fortunately trees mostly blocked the view. Rural/country setting used in description - it was indeed a small village but had 3 commercial rail lines just south of the village. Not as quiet as I had hoped as location is on a main artery which measured in 10 minute increments multiple times averaged 400-470 vehicles per hour during daylight. Being rural ATV's and ego-trucks drivers abound. Several overt anti-mask residents flying anti gov't flags. Could be nice people, but scowled at me while I just sat on the porch, beverage in hand of course. Everything did work and no issues arose during stay. More items provided than I anticipated and the house was updated very tastefully. Minor housekeeping shortages found. Pet dishes + blankets should likely be designated but I will contact the owner about these issues. A few village residents were very friendly and had some interesting chats during walks in town. The area boasts home areas averaging $1.7 million so Toronto is moving in. I would rate this unit as one that I would return to

About the host

Host profile image
I am a foodie and a winelover and have been vegan for over a decade. I co-founded The Social Herbivore with Master Sommelier, Jennifer Huether and we're thrilled to have published the world's first book on wine pairings for vegan cuisine. I am a contributor on topics of sustainability and the environment, and of course on vegan food & wine, for Prince Edward County’s Grapevine Magazine and Vineroutes.

Why they chose this property

It's an honour to have guests visit Terra. This has been a dream for me--to have a vacation property designed with sustainability and respect for the planet in mind. I decorated the home with vintage, second-hand and found pieces, aside from the beds and sofa. The home is located a short drive from PEC wine country, which was part of my goal as I work in the world of vegan food & wine.

What makes this property unique

Located a short 90 minute drive east of Toronto and an easy day trip to the wineries and shops of Prince Edward County, or to the beautiful town of Coburg, Terra is ideally situated for those who are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life while having all the conveniences near enough when needed.
