About this property

Vieux Hull heritage chic - Centrally located walk everywhere!

Built in 1886 this centrally located heritage semi-detached is eclectic, cozy and thoughtfully furnished with an eye on comfort and style. Tongue and groove touches, stained glass, hardwood floors and loads of local art.

Centrally located just perfect for a single traveller, a couple, a couple with children or 2 couples who know each other well.

The ground level incudes a living room, dining room, full eat-in kitchen and small back deck. The hardwood floors are original as are some of the tongue and groove walls and ceilings. It can have a bright feeling in the morning and cozy feeling later in the day. Walk upstairs to the front bedroom which faces West, then through the office into the second bedroom and on to the tiled bathroom.

The layout upstairs is a bit quirky, befitting a 137 year-old home, with one full bathroom accessible through the second bedroom which is why we suggest you be comfortable with your travel companions.

We like sleeping comfortable beds in with good cotton sheets, so we’ve thought it important to provide them for our you too. Each bedroom has a queen bed with cotton sheets, 4 pillows and duvet covers with extra blankets if you need. Both bedrooms have a drawers and closets with hangers.

You have the whole house to yourself. And in summer a small back deck for BBQing!

*This is a very old semi-detached home with a quiet family, a dog and a cat living on the other side… we may hear each other from time to time. We co-exist peacefully.

We do not have laundry on-site but there are 2 local services who pick-up and deliver to your door. Nettoyeur St. Louis & Browns Cleaners.

Beautiful home!
We came for spring break, house is beautiful, every room has works of art, hot water, great shower pressure. Lissa was kind, gave great recommendations and was always there for us. Walking distance to museum as well. We had an amazing stay in Canada, highly recommend!

Great location and great host
We stayed here to celebrate Canada Day. Our host, Lissa, was very communicative and everything from check-in/out was clear. She also checked in to see how we were doing and helped accommodate us. The location is great! There is a small C-store with excellent sandwiches a couple houses down. The Canadian History museum is close by and most major attractions in Ottawa, including Parliament hill, are within walking distance. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Awesome Hosts
Great hosts, very welcoming, easy check-in. Very helpful with any local tips on eats and sights. The property is a half-duplex, Lissa lives next door but gave us our space. less than a block from the Museum of History. (which by the way is also a must-see if you're in the area for a few days.) House is a bit old but has a ton of character. Only downside is the area - but it is reflected in the price. Did not feel unsafe at any point, however many parts of Hull are a little rough. 3 blocks to the Alexandra bridge, so you can be across into Ottawa, (at the National Gallery) within 10 minutes by foot.

I have lived in this neighbourhood since 1995 and love it here! Michael and I travel quite a bit and are very happy to offer the hospitality we've received during our travels. We love being outside, walking, hiking and we travel to scuba dive. We also have a smoker here and enjoy BBQing in the summertime.

Why they chose this property

This hidden gem is right in the middle of the city and yet borders the river paths and forests. We love being outside in nature. It's a quiet home in a close knit neighbourhood. Great sandwiches at the depanneur 3 houses down.

What makes this property unique

Quartier du musée is a quiet heritage neighbourhood located in the Old Hull part of Gatineau next to the Canadian Museum of History and the Ottawa River directly across from parliament hill. Centrally located, it is close to gorgeous riverside walking trails and is a lovely 15 minute walk over the Alexandra Bridge to the National Gallery of Canada and Ottawa’s ByWard Market. We are also a 10 minute walk to all kinds of great restaurants on rue Laval and Promenade du Portage. There is so much beauty and life to explore around here.

We are also a quick 15 minute drive to the largest outdoor spa in North America and the beautiful Gatineau Park with 200 km of hiking, mountain biking and cross-country ski trails. There are also 5 ski hills within an hour of our front door. Meech Lake is a 20 minute drive in the summer - great for dip on hot summer’s day!

You can walk to ALL of these places and events from here in under 30 minutes!
