About this property

*Featured on the Live Well Network's Sweet Retreats!* The cottage is situated on a large wooded lot overlooking the Palisades of the Kentucky River. The surrounding woods and river provide spectacular scenery all year round. Family recreation is readily available at the Horseshoe pit and Corn Hole boards. With direct river access, canoeing and kayaking are popular activities on the river. In the evening, star gaze around an open fire in the large fire pit off the stone patio.

If you want more adventure, the cottage is a short drive to fun dining experiences at Jean Farris Winery and Bistro, or Proud Mary's riverside restaurant and bar. Although the cottage is in a secluded setting, it's only a half-mile from Interstate 75, within easy driving distance to Boone's Trace championship golf course, Boone Creek Canopy Tour (zipline)Boonesborough State Park, Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Park. The Kentucky Horse Park is a popular attraction and pairs up well with tours of surrounding Horse Farms and a visit to retired race horses at Old Friends Farm. Whatever activities you enjoy, you'll find it all at Kentucky River Cottages.

The 3rd Floor Suite of the Cottages offers a cozy, couple's sanctuary with a view of the Kentucky River from the dining area of the cottage. The doors open onto a private deck for relaxing with your morning coffee. The kitchenette area provides a full fridge, sink, and microwave for snacking and simple meals. When you arrive, you'll find a binder on the table listing area attractions and our staff stands by to ensure you have a great experience. Our goal is to provide you with a retreat, an opportunity for restoration and rejuvenation.

About the host

My husband and I love to fish and boat on the Kentucky River as well as enjoy the many country side beauties of our scenic state. Entertaining our family and friends with southern style hospitality is very important to us. We also love people and want to provide a place for others to experience the beauty of the outdoors and nature

Why they chose this property

We purchased this three acre piece of property to have easy access to the river for boating and fishing. Though the house needed to be completely remodeled and the surrounding area cleaned, the view was overwhelmingly beautiful and made all the hard work worth it. The property is located 10 minutes from Lexington and .5 mile from Exit 99 of I-75 off of Ky 2328, so it is easy for visitors to locate when traveling in the scenic Bluegrass.
