My honest review from someone who understands getting what you pay for and being ok with it.
Close to beach.
Has a pool.
Owner does what he can to help with issues and is responsive to request.
Hotel is ran down, but has tremendous potential if they would just update it.
Elevators down except 1.
Bugs in room. Looked just like roaches. Small ones though and not a ton. But I did see plenty of them and took pics.
AC would not cool off the room very well
Mold all over shower curtain, but owner did replace with a nice one.
Parking is a frigging nightmare and outrageously expensive. I did find a small parking lot to the north of the hotel where the guy only charges $20 a day and trust me that is cheap down there.
Ok, here is the biggest issue we had. Noise. Apparently, according to other guest the Resort decided to rent out a ton of there rooms to a college to make a dorm basically out of the facility. The young men was typical college kids and were up all hours of the night being extremely loud. Playing and hollering out in the hallways. Playing loud music all night and the walls are paper thin, so no sleep. Also a strong strong smell of Marijuana was pouring out of there rooms every time they opened there doors. The room is in the end corner next to exit steps and since you hear everything through the walls it adds to the misery, especially when the college kids are up and down them 100 times a night.
My advice to owners. Spray room for bugs, but probably wont help if all the other condos are not doing it.
Get with the owners association and have a meeting with the college and put a curfew on those kids. Put a better seal on the door because everytime a college kid would shut his door our door with shut loudly. I had to wedge a folded up piece of cardboard into the door to keep it quiet.
I understand that my biggest issues with the place was not the fault of the owners and I get that, however I would not visit this location again due to the "Dorm" issue. But there u go.
The unit was clean and comfortable and the location was excellent. The owners were very helpful. The building itself is dated and in need of some upgrades but for the money this was a highly acceptable place to stay. The swimming pool was above average and the adjacent bar and grill was very good.
It was our great pleasure haveing Mr. Greene as a guest.
Thank you so much.
Hotel of horrors
My 13 year old daughter found the VRBO on line and paid for it back in February. It turned out to be horrible. We were told they didn’t have our name, then finally after they agreed we were supposed to be there, they gave us an incorrect code for the door. The hotel was nasty and dirty and dangerous. The elevators didn’t work and the stairs were filthy. I am demanding a refund because we left and stayed in another hotel down the road within walking distance. I could not stay in a dangerous setting with my daughter.
Now the owner says she will not give us a refund because her unit is beautiful and she has no control over the hotel halls and elevators. It was a very bad experience and will not recommend this place to anyone.
we all learn as long as we are here... When it says :check-in time is 2:00 p.m. it will be in your interest to believe it.
Instead you arrived at 11:00 a.m. - I only wanted to help you out - by sending you up there to #305. if you were patient, as I suggested - I could perhaps get hold of someone who was in the room at that time -to open it for you and store your laguage only, while the room was getting ready for you.
I sincerely appologise for any inconvenience, but I just wanted to help my appreciated guest.
Worth the Price
Anyone who has stayed at the Hollywood Beach Resort knows what to expect. I am used to it from having been there several times before and I'm okay with it. But if you haven't been there understand that its appeal is strictly its great location right on the beach combined with a good price. If you need a pristine environment to enjoy yourself, it is NOT the place for you.
That said, I found Steve and Rada's room to be great for my purposes. I did a little rearranging so the futon faced the TV, which was perfect for watching (and I eventually replaced all as it was, of course). The bed is large and very comfortable. The shower and hot water were plentiful. The gas was not on when I got there, but there was a 2-burner hotplate and a microwave, which sufficed until the gas was back on. Steve and Rada did what they could to get it fixed. There was plenty of drawer storage (I was by myself): a large 6-drawer dresser, two end tables, and a large entryway closet (as in all of the rooms). Also, the room is on the third floor, which made getting in and out easy when the elevators weren't working.
Basically, the only issues were with the hotel, not with the room. It's a good deal for those looking for an inexpensive way to have a longer stay right on the beach.
Great place. Inside a renovated building which is noticibly very old, but the apartment itself is very nice and the location is excellent.
We read the reviews before booking and it is exactly as advertised. Great little place in front of the beach.
Thank you so very much Doron Levy. It was our pleasure to be your host. Because of you and people like you we strive to do our extra effort to make all our guests as comfortable as posible from our part.
All the best/
Room ok for price resort smelled bad
Well the place was cheap the room was clean for the most part just needs updated some the room it's self was stayable but the smell of the resort and room was pretty bad. Smelled like wet old smell pretty bad but I didn't spend much time in the room so I would say if you don't mind that smell of a wet basement it's ok. The area is nice beach is clean lots of stuff to do north on the board walk.
Well, the fact is that the Resort is historic and there are some problems with the maintenance, and the smell of the carpets in the hallways, but the room itself is in a great condition, freshly painted and meticulously clean. Perhaps, the A/C was set low at 73, and maybe if you had adjusted it accordingly, it would eliminate that feeling of humidity. The room is on the third floor, with a ocean view.
