Nice and cozy home. We loved the upstairs balcony, and enjoyed the swing and rocking chairs on the front porch. It is super close to the beach so you don’t need to drive and hunt for a parking spot. They even had a beach wagon available to use.
Ron was very helpful and super nice. I would recommend this home to family and friends.
Cute house is just a couple of blocks from Seawall. It is also not too far from downtown. It's a very convenient location. We enjoyed our stay there. The check in and out was very easy. I would rent the house again.
We had a very pleasant 2 day stay at your property. The house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. It was also close to the beach and some great restaurants. We especially loved the Stray Cats restaurant and had breakfast there both days. Would definitely stay here again with a family.
Ron was incredibly nice and responsive making the whole check in process a breeze! The house was more than enough room for our whole family and super kid friendly. They have the house stocked with some of the necessities we needed. Additionally, the location is perfect and we walked to multiple restaurants and to the pleasure pier. I couldn’t recommend this location more! If we find ourselves back in Galveston at some point we will definitely stay here again!!
My family of 4 Adults 2 teenagers one baby and our dog were very comfortable staying at Sunny Daze. The house really cute and in a great location! The view from the top deck is nice. We were able to walk to restaurants and the beach easily. The two bathrooms are nice and spacious and showers had plenty of hot water. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely would love to come back for another visit.
We wanted a place that was close to the beach and had the feel of a beach home. Liked the bright colors and the amount of seating in the down stairs common areas. Neighbors with a pool were a little loud for a couple nights but the house was exactly what we were looking for for a nice beach vacation.

LOVED THIS HOME
We recently celebrated my husbands 30th Birthday and choose this charming home. It was perfect! It's close to everything- the beach, bars, restaurants, pleasure pier etc. The house comes with everything and more.We will absolutely return back to Sunny Daze!
The house was great. We walked to the beach. We were close to anything and everything we wanted to do. The house has lots of amenities including a Keurig, stuff for the beach, laundry complete with dryer sheets and Tide pods. It was clean. The rooms were comfortable. The owners were easy to reach and right around the corner if you needed anything. I recommend this property to anyone!
We loved the house overall. The host included gates for the stairs. It was pet friendly and child friendly. The owner was responsive and nice and the parking was easy. It’s a long walk to downtown but a very short walk to the beach! You do have to cross a big highway - so be prepared to either walk a few blocks down the road for a crosswalk or time the traffic. Still not a problem. Owner included a handy wagon with chairs! Beds were comfortable.

Perfect House for a Beach Weekend!
I just got back from an excellent Memorial Day weekend at Sunny Daze. It looked at a lot of vacation rentals before we picked this one and it was definitely a great choice. With 4 adults and 2 dogs, there was plenty of room to spare. We could have easily invited another person or two. We cooked for every meal and the kitchen was well set up and stocked for it. The location was perfect as it is only a very short walk to the beach making it easy to go back and forth as needed. The proximity to the Seawall also allows for easy access to the shops, bars, and restaurants along the beach. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and intend to come back!

Bugs were an issue. Huge lack of owner communication.
We checked in to the property late due to a canceled flight. Once we arrived at the property, we were greeted by bugs on the main level. We went upstiars to check out our room, and found dirty linens on our bed and on the bunk beds. Bugs were crawling on the main floor walls and ceiling... and some landed on us.
In less than 2 hours we killed over 2 dozen bugs.
We immediate tried calling the owners, no answer. We sent them text messages, still no answer. We had to contact VRBO customer service for guidance.
We had to pack up a very tired 5 year old and all our belonings at approx 11pm and travel to a local hotel by uber. We were at the property less than 2 hours in total.
To this day, we have had no response from the owners of this property.

Best stay ever!
My family of 6 (2 adults, 3 teenagers and 1 dog) had an amazing time in Galveston. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Ron was easy to work with and extremely helpful. The house is very quaint and perfect. Plenty of sleeping space for two 6'4" boys. This house has everything and I mean everything! All you need is food and drinks. They provide linens, towels, dishwashing/dishwasher soap, laundry soap, all the shampoo/conditioner one would ever need and YOU DON'T GET CHARGED EXTRA!!!! The only very minor snafu was no WiFi but we were on vacation so it wasn't that big of a deal. The house comes with DirecTV so that more than made up for it. It's a quick two block walk to the beach and great restaurants around the corner. It's a cute neighborhood and always felt safe. I can't wait for this time next year when we get to come back. Thank you Linda & Ron for an amazing & relaxing vacation that my son needed after a grueling basketball tournament in Houston.
Stayed at this home for a Mardi Gras weekend. The house was conveniently located to walk to the parade route. It was in a safe neighborhood and didn't need to worry about walking the seawall at night.
The house was very clean and had extra basic necessities such as toilet paper and paper towels. The kitchen was stock with all types of dishes for cooking. There was coffee there for the guests to enjoy.
There is a Walgreens about a mile away on the Seawall for last minute items for cooking, such as pasta.
The home had dual ac/heating units. One for downstairs and upstairs. The units worked perfectly keeping the rooms comfortable. The beds were comfortable and extra blankets were provided. There were TV's in every bedroom for late night viewing.
But by far, the view from the top deck was my favorite place in the home. It was very relaxing having morning coffee or a glass of wine while watching the waves on the beach. Two days were too short for my vacay.
I hope to rent this property very soon again. I would recommend this home to anyone and the management team is easy to communicate with and address any questions or concerns.

Great Location/Poor Cleanliness
The location was amazing and the deck had a great view of the ocean. I also loved that they had a children's table and dog food/water bowls available. They had a large list of dog friendly places for eating and shopping as well as provided us with a very nice play pin with canopy and extra coffee when we asked. They had folding chairs, toys and a cooler for you to use when going to the beach which was also very convenient.
Some of the less appealing aspects: When we arrived the floor had not been swept and someone had defecated in the downstairs toilet which had not been flushed for at least a week. My husband cleaned the toilet and immediately went to buy air freshener to get rid of the smell. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher when we arrived. When we attempted to run it, we realized it didn’t seem to clean very well so we ended up running everything through it again and hand washing several items before we left. The very visible lack of cleaning made us concerned about other items that may not be as visible such as the bedding. Considering the extremely high cleaning fee we were required to pay to book the property, I was very upset with this aspect of our stay.

Upon first glance this appears to be a charming beach side house. Beach decor, bright colors, fully stocked kitchen, big beds, and two nicely sized bathrooms. Beautiful location, quaint porch and balcony, an all around picturesque Galveston home. Sadly, upon second glance the charm mostly wore off. This may not bother others, and we are impressed and reverent to the fact that this is a historically preserved home from over 100 years ago, however, the unit didn’t feel comfortably clean, especially with young kids in tow. The bunk bed room was the most uncomfortable spot in the house. The room smelled musty, the floors were not clean, and there was trash under the bunk beds. Felt like the kids were at a lakeside summer camp. The kids kept stepping on or finding burrs in that bedroom! It was rather annoying, and despite our attempts at rallying they didn’t want to sleep in the bunk room after those incidences. We love dogs, but please clean up well enough afterwards so that the next occupants aren’t stepping on the burrs that love to attach to their fur. The other two bedrooms were fine, but we struggled with the overall smell, especially the pillows - the cover was clean, but the actual pillow smelled like the last 10 people that slept there. Lastly, the bathrooms. The towels smelled like mildew and there was visible mold in the shower and on the shower curtains. The bathroom floor rugs were also a concern, they did not feel or look clean. We didn’t stay for our second night.
Sunny Daze was a fantastic option for my family of 7 over the Memorial Day weekend. I loved how close it was to the beach and proximity to Dennys and Salt Grass. Everything we needed was within walking distance.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Akin
I live in the Houston Heights which is a beautiful 100 year plus neighborhood and have a life long love of old homes. After 15 years in this neighborhood I've renovated 3 homes. I decided to branch into the vacation rental market in Galveston and feel fortunate to have rescued and revived 3 wonderful old homes that are all available for your Galveston getaway.
Why they chose this property
This house is across the street from one of my other houses and it was quite a mess when I purchased it. Saying it needed some 'TLC' was an understatement! I knew it had potential and after a year long renovation it has emerged as a charming beachside cottage. The Galveston City Council just gave the home a Landmark Commission Award for renovation which was a huge honor and made all the sweat equity worth it. You will love it!
