Ratings should give the picture. Access was odd - requiring ID being shown to a camera. Once we entered, there was a very strong air freshener smell. Opened all the windows - tons of little bugs in the window frames. Carpets had deep stains. Left and hoped to return to a fresher environment. Hours after, we returned and the smell was still strong. Now we were both getting headaches. Considered getting a tent and sleeping on the property as it is on the lake. Instead we left the first night and did not return. Host would not refund the total amount and gave us a minimal token amount. VRBO was also challenging to deal with in this situation. We should have read ALL the fine print. Felt health and personal safety concerns in dealing with this host. After many years of traveling and positive VRBO bookings, this one is the last. No more bookings here.
