Fantastic home so close to the river and main street that looks like a small town movie set. Quiet neighborhood and private. Walking distance to everything you need, the general store, the riverwalk, and several restaurants. House is spacious, with historical architectural details and modern but comfortable decor. River views from both the first level and second level covered porch. Close drive to Hudson NY and other small river valley towns. Lovely stay!

Dear Marlo, thank you for your review. We are so glad you had a lovely stay. Come back soon!
This was perfect for our family of 4 adults - a great combination of historical charm and modern convenience. The two main bedrooms are enormous; the bunk room is quite adequate. The dining room is huge, with a table for 10. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped, and has decent work space, plus a peninsula with seating for 4. Ample parking, and a nice river view from the upstairs balcony. Short walk to the Wire event center, Patrick Henry tavern, etc. Communication about the rental was excellent throughout.

Dear Gene,Thank you for your kind words. When we restored the house, the goal was to make it fun and easy for family gatherings. Your review means the world to us.Come back soon!
This is the third annual trip to Coxsackie and twice in this property. Lovely location, lovely historic home with an untold number of charming nooks and crannies. My partner’s mother grew up in Coxsackie and now we make a girls trip to the Riverside festival. It’s right around the corner and walkable. The kitchen overlooking the Hudson is *chef’s kiss* perfect. Live this home and will be booking next year again soon.

From the owner: ''Andrea, it means a lot to us for you to come back to the 'First House on the Hill'. We enjoy hosting you and hope to see you again next year. Riverside Park in Coxsackie is one of the treasures of the Hudson River Valley - beautifully restored by NY State. We love the annual Riverside Festival and the farmers market in the park on Wednesdays is a real treat.''

Beautiful home with amazing views
This home has been beautifully renovated on the inside while maintaining historic character. It was well stocked and very clean. I was disappointed with the yard being quite overgrown, making it a bit of an eyesore for the neighborhood instead of providing interest as it is a beautiful place! Location is fantastic, just a short walk to downtown shops and waterfront park!

A great blend of convenience and peace and quiet
Perfect place for a long weekend. My wife and I really enjoyed our weekend in Coxsackie. The office setup was great, good high speed Internet and a Riverview! The short walk to town to grab coffee and lunch was so convenient. The pickleball court was an unexpected surprise that we really enjoyed. We were bummed we didn't get a chance to Kayak in the park but we would definitely return to try it out!
We loved our stay at this historic property with loads of character! The house was beautiful and had all the comforts we could want. The views of the river from the upper and lower porches were amazing! Very thoughtfully renovated kitchen and bathrooms with all necessities. We were in Coxsackie for a weeding at the Wire Event Center so the location of the house couldn't have been better. We loved walking around the town and riverfront and taking the short drives to Hudson and Catskill. We wish we had been able to see the nearby Olana House... maybe next time! Great stay, great communication with the host, everything was wonderful!

From the owner: "We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back soon. Olana is amazing!"
Our stay at “The House on the Hill” was perfect for a long, leisurely weekend. Plenty of historic (circa 1800!) charm, but beautifully renovated, designed, and well-appointed with all the modern conveniences — special shoutout to the shower!
Downtown Coxsackie is just a short walk. It’s a quaint and quintessential Catskills river town — bookstore/cafe, local general store, bar with live music, the new Wire events center and hotel, and even self-service kayak rentals (we didn’t get to take them out, but we can’t wait to come back). Coxsackie is just a hop-skip-jump from neighboring Catskill, Hunter Mountain, and Hudson, but a really welcome retreat from the crowds you’ll find there.
We were the first guests, and the owners were lovely and provided great recommendations for our stay. There was plenty of space for us to spread out, cook, play games, and watch the ships on the river from the backyard. We are delighted to give them a 5++++ star review for a wonderful weekend in our new favorite upstate town!

Perfect Mix of Vintage Charm and Modern Touches
From the moment we arrived at "The First House on the Hill", we knew this home was something special. Every detail has been so thoughtfully considered, making our stay both comfortable and memorable. The perfect mix of vintage charm and modern touches created a warm and inviting atmosphere that felt like home the moment we stepped inside. The spacious layout gave everyone plenty of room to relax, whether enjoying morning coffee on the front porch overlooking the water or sharing a family meal around the dining table. The chef’s kitchen was a dream to cook in, stocked with everything we needed and more. The beds were wonderfully cozy, the showers were fantastic, and every detail was carefully thought of. The luxury comforts of home were everywhere, from high quality linens to thoughtful touches in every room. We loved the interesting artwork and could see the incredible care that went into restoring this beautiful home. It truly felt like the perfect setting for a family getaway, where everyone could unwind and enjoy time together. We also loved the location, with walking distance to the Hudson River and Reed Street. Restaurant recommendations were a great touch and so appreciated. It was the perfect home base for our day trip to Saratoga Springs, just an hour drive away.It is rare to find a place that truly feels like home the moment you step inside, but this property does exactly that. We left feeling refreshed, recharged, and already planning our next visit.Thank you for your hospitality. We hope to return again soon.
