Discover the ideal Silver Lake Retreat, this charming two-story getaway is just a block from Silver Lake in Mears, offering the perfect blend of convenience and seclusion, walking distance from all the attractions! The retreat is fully furnished and accommodates up to seven guests comfortably. Inside, you’ll find a well-furnished kitchen including refrigerator with ice-maker, electric stove and oven, microwave, drip coffee maker & filters, pots and pans, plates, glasses and silverware, BBQ utensils, and a few spices to create your favorite meals; outside by the little Red Barn is the BBQ with propane tank for your grilling needs.

Families will appreciate the child-friendly environment, including access to the association pool, playground, and picnic areas. The property is situated on a cul-de-sac, making it safer for kids to play and ride bikes.

The cottage has central air/heat and includes an IWAVE Air Purification Technology system for enhanced comfort, reducing airborne viruses, mold, smoke, odors, and VOCs.

The entertainment system includes Satellite TV with a 40" Flat screen HDTV, and soundbar, HD DVD, X-BOX, and internet access.

Attractions are all within walking distance, experience go karts, bumper boats, mini golf, zip line, roller coaster, arcade, food and live music. Rentals for water sports include Pontoon boats, PWCs’; ORV rentals are also available, quads, and side by side’s so you can enjoy the unique Silver Lake ORV area.

Water enthusiasts will love the included boat dock for personal watercraft, fishing boats, or speed boats (16-19'). There's also a private boat launch association members and guests can use to access the canals that surround the property and out to Silver Lake, you must go under a low bridge to get to the lake.

Off-roading enthusiasts and adventure-seekers, Silver Lake ORV area overlooks Lake Michigan and offers thrilling experiences and is a short distance, 7 minutes, from the RED Barn. Pack up your quads, motorcycles, sand rails, Jeeps, or buggies, side by side’s and explore the dunes. There’s ample parking space for two trailers, ensuring convenience during your stay. There's a lockable storage shed for your bikes and scooters so you can ride to the State Park, Sable Point the light house on Lake Michigan, and enjoy beach activities, picnics, and sunsets on Lake Michigan's shores.

The cottage is available for Saturday-to-Saturday rentals.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Please, start a load of bath towels and wash cloths (whites), put detergent in the washer, and start the cycle.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
NO Parking on the front yard, the septic system is located there. Park on concrete, additional parking is to the right of the concrete, front of tree.
NO Camping please, tents are not allowed by the association. Screened tents are not considered camping tents. Camping is available in the State Park.
NO Personal Wipes down the toilet, the septic system does not like them.

Very nice place. Nicely decorated. The weather was unseasonably cold & windy so we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the outdoor amenities,(firepit, patio etc). Neighbor has a pitbull, that was definitely not a plus, it was good we weren't able to be outside much, if we were it may have created a problem.

We know the Terrier mix dog next door, it’s a big baby… The dog is usually hooked up to a cable that limits its movements to only their property, sorry you worried. Did you happen to see any of the wild life, cranes, turkeys, geese and deer that traverse the property? Maybe you made it down to the dock, across the street, and see the ducks, and turtles Sharon & Jerry

Comfortable and quiet

The Red Barn is a very nice place to return to after enjoying all that the area has to offer. It's close to everything but on a nice, quiet street. We have stayed here for the past three years and it's been perfect. Large kitchen and comfortable beds. We will be back.

Excellent Rental Right In The Heart Of It All

The red barn was an awesome place to stay. The rain shower head made it worth it by itself. My friend and I loved staying in this house as it was right in the heart of Silver Lake. We were able to walk all over the town in minutes without being tired. I would love to rent this house again when we decide to go back to Silver Lake!

Location, location, location!

Beyond the fact that we have a personal connection to the history of this property, we could not have found a better place to spend our 53rd wedding anniversary week. This charming renovated old barn is as comfortable as can be. So peaceful and quiet, yet literally centered directly in the hub of all activity that is Silver Lake. The hosts, Sharon and Jerry, have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and memorable!

Great Family Stay

We had a great time at this property, with two young children (7, 4) the layout of the property was unique which was exciting for them. And the kids just kept calling it “the barn” “let’s go back to the barn” which created a fun memory. Everything was well taken care of and furnished. Communication before and after was great. The property is walking distance to so many things and the kids loved being able to walk to things. Also close driving distance to so many activities and many other great places within 30 minutes. We’re already all talking about the next trip to “the barn”

Great Location

We enjoyed our stay at the Red Barn. It has a great location close to attractions yet feels peaceful and secluded enough to relax. Nice decor and newer appliances. It was nice having a washer and dryer for wet towels plus you don’t have to pack as many clothes. The only drawback is I wouldn’t really call it a 2 bedroom as the downstairs only has a Murphy bed in the open kitchen/living room area. That being said though there were plenty of places for people to sleep with 2 Queens and a futon upstairs and the Murphy bed and 2 couches downstairs. The setup just doesn’t provide much privacy if you are looking for a true 2 bedroom.

Another wonderful stay at the Red Barn. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The location can't be beat and we had a great week at the dunes, lake Michigan, picking blueberries, and checking out various little towns in the area. We will be booking the Red Barn for next summer, this week.

We've been coming to Silver Lake since 2005 - We completed remodeling and moved The RED Barn, yes it was moved; we are excited to offer it for summer rentals. We have been offering properties with VRBO since 2005 and know how important it is to be in a clean, comfortable, modern cottage.

Why they chose this property

This is a great location to walk or bike to all the local activities - Go-karting, Roller coaster, ZIP Line, arcade, miniature golf, shops, there is so much to do, time flies by. Everything is reasonably priced, so your hard-earned dollars go a long way, you get your monies worth. You'll make wonderful memories, we do, all the time.

What makes this property unique

- We enjoy going to the MI State Park, Silver Lake Sand Dunes ORV, riding bikes to the Sable Light House on Lake Michigan, (locals call it the Candle Stick), beaching boats, pontoons and Sea Doo's across on Silver Lake going to the ORV Area sand dunes, picnicking and climbing the dunes. We enjoy watching all the unique sand rails and toys go by while eating ice cream at the local ice cream shop & store. It's a great place to bring the family and relax.
