Rice Lake is a lake located in Northumberland and Peterborough counties in south-eastern Ontario.
The lake is located south of the City of Peterborough, and the Kawartha Lakes and north of Cobourg and Port Hope. It is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway, which flows into the lake by the Otonabee and out via the Trent. The lake is 28 kilometres long and 5km wide. Its maximum depth is 10m, with a surface water level at 187 m above sea level, raised to its present height by the Hastings Dam, built in the 19th century as of the Trent-Severn canal.

The view was beautiful, and that is really what you are paying for. The cottage was small and very musty smelling. Overall the value didn’t feel comparable to the price.

The deck area was partially unfinished rough cement.. could never walk on without shoes. We were in the basement of a house…The entire space we stayed in needed a DEEP CLEANING. Musty closets and kitchen drawers! Dirty frig. Cement stairs down to our rear entrance had NO handrails. This rental property has many safety issues and was NOT as advertised for the cost! VRBO gave it a “10” I’d say not even a 2. No space for our boat to park or to dock… I could go on and on…Thankfully the neighbors were wonderful and friendly and very helpful.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my best friend and dog (boxer). The house was cute and fenced so he could run free. The place was clean and had everything we needed in terms of dishes, utensils, bbq, propane, firewood, great view. The water was very weedy with lots of seaweed but not the owners fault. I had breakfast in the nearby town and brought my dog for the first time, this was so special! We humans loved our stay and so did my furry best friend! Thank you for a great weekend, we very much enjoyed our stay!
