Beautiful hotel in lovely location

This is a beautiful old house/hotel in a fantastic area close to the medieval village. We were shown around the hotel by the lady on reception whom was very welcoming and took great delight in explaining all details regarding the house. She was very knowledgeable and a credit to the hotel. Nothing was a trouble to her. The rooms were beautiful to wander around and admire every detail. Our bedroom was roomy with a lovely bathroom and a small balcony overlooking the old medieval village. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely too. Would love to return.

Convenient location right outside of town with a postcard perfect view from the balcony. Rooms are spacious, but in need of upgrades. Feels old and dated, but not in a charming way. Restaurant/ bar closed early on Saturday. Very noisy as the hotel sits next to what appears to be the main parking lot for visitors to the town. Probably wouldn’t have been a big deal if you’re planning to stay out late but we booked a hot air balloon ride early in the morning and the street noise made it impossible to get any sleep.

We loved the view of the bridge and the history of the building. The receptionist was extremely helpful and took pride in telling us the history of the building. A little tired in places and parking not that great. It would have been lovely if bedroom doors reflected character of building and had not been bland flat doors. Catered well for gluten free. We unfortunately were disturbed by teenage antics by a large group of local boys about midnight blocking road with chairs from nearby cafe. Spoilt our stay as woke us up and we were concerned for security of car parked close by.

Repetiremos sin duda

Mi madre y yo que siempre vamos con nuestras perritas nos cuesta mucho encontrar alojamiento para nuestras peludas, pero La Martana fue excepcional. Nos dieron una habitación con dos balcones para que los perretes estubieran más comodos. La limpieza fantástica y el servicio lo mejor de lo mejor. Las vistas de su terraza son espectaculares y tengo que decir que han sido los mejores desayunos que he hecho jamás.

An amazing place. Right across the river from the medieval village at Besalu. Easy to get to, and if you like history, this place has it. Staff at the hotel makes sure you are comfortable with your stay.

Todo muy bien. Hotel plenamente recomendable en todos los aspectos. Trato genial, destacando en especial la atención del recepcionista Juan Diego. Su predisposición, su amabilidad y su eficacia para solventar cualquier incidencia es excelente. Y lo digo por propia experiencia, pues resolvió un cambio de habitación y un problemilla con la tv de la habitación de forma sobresaliente.

A very pleasant hotel

The hotel is situated just next to the famous beautiful bridge of Besalu across the river from the town. The hotel has a nice balcony where breakfast is served. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast was excellent. There is free parking next to the hotel. Overall it was a very nice stay.

Inmejorable estancia

Experiencia inmejorable, no podria pedir mejor trato, mejor ubicación, mejor instalación, restaurante a conducción familiar, sito en las instalaciones de una antigua residencia nobiliares, peretnecida al medico del pueblo, tiene estructura parecida a un castillo, y justo se encuentra en frente al pueblo y a su impresionante casco antiguo amurallado, desde donde se puede observara su belleza y conectado por un puente rodeado por un torrente, en un entorno espectacular y casi magico de cuentos de hadas. El hotel tiene un aspecto familiar porque todas las estancias son decorada como si fuera una vivienda particular, ubicado en dos plantas, en la prmera se encuentra a parte las habitaciones, un salon muy coqueto y un espacio donde se puede desayunar, con una buena variedad de productos, el ventanal da al jardin y ademas se puede elegir desayuanr en la preciosa terraza, que da al rio. La amabilidad del personal es destacable. No podria haber sido una estancia más perfecta

The location is perfect, right next to the ancient bridge leading to town. The staff was extremely helpful. The room was large, clean and comfortable- though getting there does require stair climbing (not an issue for us.) there is a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the town, where we had breakfast our second day. The breakfast was good, especially the croissants. And we made use of both quirky, comfortable sitting areas.

We loved staying here - it was like an oasis after three miserable hot crowded days in Barcelona. Very attentive staff, lovely old mansion with views and private spots to read everywhere, steps from a charming little town.
