Premier contact avec le motel, une réceptionniste que nous avons dérangée, pas accueillante. Ensuite une chambre à la moquette tachée, avec une baignoire dont le revêtement manquait par plaques et une odeur assez désagréable. Quand au petit déjeuner offert, une boisson à l'orange qui avait été diluée, de même pour la préparation des gaufres et uniquement du café et même pas d'eau chaude et de thé. Pour conclure un wifi d'un autre âge.
Needs up grades there was and old tube t.v. in my room and no microwave had to ask for more toilet paper because they only give you one and had to ask for more towels we stayed there for 2 days for a wedding in town. I wouldn't stay there again should of stayed at the Super 8 down the street for a couple dollars more other family members stayed there and they said it was nicer.
We were reluctant due to negative reviews about noise and other things but we are so glad we stayed here! The room was huge with awesome shower pressure. A microwave and mini fridge came with our room. Staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend eating at Casa Sorento which is walking distamce. For the price you think it's a dive but it could charge double and still be worth it. The bed was comfortable, we didn't hear outside noise, the property is very well lit at night with tall palms to make the curb appeal inviting.
This was the worst room I have ever seen. There were stains on the carpet and bed. The table hadn't even been wiped off. I barely made it through the door before I turned around and left. I didn't even bother with a refund. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
Upon booking this hotel on Expedia, the pictures looked great as if it were a nice place to stay for just one night while in town. Boy were we wrong. We walked into the rooms and immediately felt bamboozled by both Expedia, and the hotel. I immediately took pictures of the hotel, as seen below, the rooms were not by any means anything that we saw on the pictures that helped us make a decision to book here. Everything was outdated, dirty, and looked as if it weren't touched for maintenance in years. Expedia must not have done their job to go verify that the pictures were accurate, we would have never chosen this place.
If at all possible, avoid this place, you will thank yourself that you did. We immediately asked for a refund.
Don't be fooled by the name "Steinbeck lodge", this is just a Travelodge... and not a great one. No breakfast despite promised, no Wi-Fi either, & cold shower! The heater was not working in my room and even though I was the only one staying there, they were hesitant to switch my room. But they did, still no wifi...Shabby room, but comfy enough, although I would recommend saving 15 bucks and just staying at the Motel 6 down the rd. Ive stayed there, it is better. The only real plus to this travelodge is that you can walk to downtown.
The hotel had great service, but you can tell that the hotel itself has seen better days. But if you are just needing somewhere sleep for one night I would use recommend it, I would not recommend for an extended stay.
I guess you get what you pay for. But this motel wasn't clean at all. It was obvious that the rooms are not cleaned properly and in my opinion that is the most important thing about a motel. Here that wasn't the case and you can't really enjoy the stay when you are disgusted by the room.
This is the place we stay in salinas. if you are on a budget its worth it. the room is very big and although the outside isn't the greatest the rooms are spacious and bathrooms are clean. definitely worth the $$ you pay if you need a good place just to stay the night.

Salinas Sucks....
Salinas and Castroville sucks. We were forced to stay in Salinas due to the AT&T golf tournament during the Presidents / Valentines day weekend. We were heading to Monterey Bay Aquarium. Hotel service was decent except for the following listed items. Toilet paper was folded nicely but was a used roll (Thats gross), sink could of been cleaner. The coffee maker was crusted with lime and I had to clean it my self. The breakfast sucked. The waffle mix could of been better. Also the waffle maker was not clean enough. Would I stay here again? Yes but again its in Salinas. The heck with Salinas...
Second time staying here. Only complaint I have, is that we left for dinner. Coming back, there was no parking. We had to park in the neighborhood down the street. There was a party being held in the room next to us. So I'm assuming their guests took up the parking :(
Other than that, things were fine. Will be back!
