The location of the hotel is stunning, once of the prettiest settings in Devon. The staff are very welcoming and friendly.

nice comfortable rooms, good value stay. food nice, staff excellent, particularly the reception staff. a bit off the beaten track and awkward to get around with narrow roads. a bit pretentious with the overall formal atmosphere and menus of slight delusions of grandeur. most guests appear to be over age of 80 and that generation i expect would find it more favourable. next generation of 80 year olds may hope for /expect easier access bar area and more informal approach.

Only go here if you absolutely love dogs

There was a good welcoming letter in our room- suggesting relaxing with a drink on the terrace- this was not possible as several dogs kept barking at each other We could not believe that dogs were allowed in the dining room- a great shame as this is a fine dining restaurant- no point in the chef making all that effort when all you can hear is dogs slurping water and crunching biscuits and barking The ambiance in the restaurant was nil

Beautiful hotel in picturesque quiet location

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful old mansion house with log fire burning in the lounge all day and evening. Very friendly staff who did everything possible to make our stay perfect - our huge thanks to them! Hotel is set amongst beautiful rolling green hills in lovely gardens. The lane to get to the hotel is very long (1 to 2 miles) and narrow with very few passing places but it wouldn't put us off staying there as everything else about the hotel made up for that.

A very comfortable manor house hotel. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed a delicious meal from the bar menu and because it wasn't busy during our stay we dined in the very comfortable blue panelled dining room. Breakfast was included and a wide variety of cooked and buffet food available. Very relaxing and a peaceful nights comfortable sleep.

Stayed at hotel in October in room Jasmine. Torn curtain, dirty tshower tiles, dirt around end of bath where sealant missing, light pull cord black with dirt, toilet roll holder broken ... Access to the hotel is via narrow lanes which could do with more ‘ passing places’ Did not have evening meals as previous comments were poor. Best thing about our stay was the breakfast which is really good. Wouldn’t return.

We had a lovely relaxing stay in this beautiful hotel. Everything is well done from the comfortable rooms to the tasty food and the friendly efficient staff. It’s rural location with stunning views make it an excellent choice for a get away from it all holiday.
