Gold was discovered at Walhalla in circa 1862 and was part of the general Victorian Gold rush of the mid 19th century. Once a bustling town of 4000 residents, its now down to 20 permanent residents.

Activities are fly fishing, walking, camping, touring of a still active Gold mine.

Walhalla is experiencing something of a renaissance with a number of new or renovated accommodation houses and is certainly worth a visit.

Loved the cottage. Clean, comfortable, well appointed with everything we needed. Fabulous location and really enjoyed the fresh mountain air and breakfast with the birds. Short walk down the hill into the main street.

We loved our stay at Jerome's in Erica. Very cosy home with everything we needed, fire was ready to light and so nice to sit out on the deck and enjoy the view and watch the birdlife.
