Just a 10-minute walk, Tewantin is a small village on the Noosa River and is the launching point for the vehicular ferry to Noosa North Shore, the Great Sandy National Park and Fraser Island. Historic Tewantin was originally a timber town and the river port for the Noosa area. Today Tewantin is the administrative centre for the Noosa region and is home to shops, cafes, a hotel and Noosa Marina.
The Noosa River is a short 75m walk from the house, where you can stroll, fish, relax, watch the sun go down or enjoy a picnic on the foreshore. Just a 5 minute ramble will take you to the Noosa Marina, a bustling complex on the river where you can enjoy a coffee, a cool drink, alfresco lunch or an evening meal with river views. The Harbour Wine Bar and Harbour Fish Market restaurant have dog friendly outdoor dining areas, and Cafe Vincino do a great breakfast and lunch and they also have no objection to your pet if you sit outside. The 40-berth marina also has specialty shops and each Sunday the Noosa Marina Markets set up craft and produce stalls on the boardwalk. Deep sea and river fishing charters, cruise and tour boats, self-drive hire boats, the Noosa Ferry and houseboats all dock at the marina and can be booked on location at the Visitor Information Centre in the marina.
Take a 15 minute walk or catch the bus to Gympie Terrace, which runs along the Noosa River and is a hive of activity during the evenings as award winning restaurants, bars and cafes tempt onlookers for a drink or a relaxed meal.
