WOLLOMBI VALLEY: gateway to Hunter Valley and offers many attractions to those who take the Route 33 tourist drive via Calga /Peats Ridge turnoff on the Sydney Expressway. The drive winds through Bucketty then follows the original convict built route of the 1840s to historic Wollombi Village. The work and promotion of the convict and aboriginal heritage of the Wollombi district certainly contributed to the award going to Wollombi. The services to tourism and the welcome to visitors to the Wollombi Valley are the keys to Wollombi's success. The Valley has many unique attractions and facilities to the delight of overseas tourists and Australian city dwellers alike. Visitors can relax and enjoy the hospitality of the Village in the fine restaurants or enjoy an ale with the locals in the tavern, visit the local boutique wineries, bush walk or horse ride through in the picturesque valleys around Wollombi. These are just a few of the many attractions of the district.

BROKE FORDWICH REGION: Nestled on the edge of the Yengo National Park, and just two hours from Sydney and one hour from Newcastle, the Broke Fordwich area is in the centre of the Hunter Valley. In 1994 the Broke Fordwich area was the first region formally recognised as a separate viticultural sub-region of the Hunter Valley. While historically, it is one of the oldest wine growing areas in Australia, it is only in the last 30 years that Broke Fordwich has started to become an important player in Australian wine making. The sub-region produces some of the best quality fruit in the Hunter. Today the area boasts over 70

  • "Three day stay in a very clean and comfortable home. Could do with curtains and the ceiling fans could be cleaner but overall thoroughly good stay.Dog was safe and secure in the back yard. We would not hesitate to stay again!"
    Rudi, December 2011

  • "We visited Hunter for a concert in October with another couple (4 of us in total). We found this cottage to be very neat and tidy, with newly renovated kitchen and bathroom. We arrived on Saturday; owners were very accommodating and allowed us an early access so we could refresh before rushing to "A Day on the Green". We'll definitely stay there again. Pluses of the accommodation are: clean with plenty of room for a large group, short distance & good access to vineyards, reasonable rates. Minuses: located on a fairly busy road, window curtains showing signs of age. Overall: good value."

  • "We stayed in the Coal d'Vine Cottage for 3 nights with 6 Children and 2 adults while visiting my sister who has recently moved to Cessnock. Upon arrival we walked into a beautifully warm cottage that was neat and well suited to our needs. The kitchen was well apointed which is really healpful with 6 children. The only negative to the place is it is on a busy road but we would definately use this cottage again when visiting my sister."

  • "Fabulous accommodation. After an almost 12 hour drive we arrived tired and weary to a welcoming house with the front porch light on and even better, upon entering the lounge light was on, music was playing and the fire was on. The home is incredibly well-equipped with everything you would need. I would highly recommend this property to anyone, and I will. Thank you David & Hilary. "

  • "We stayed at this cottage over the Queen's birthday long weekend with 4 adults, 1 child and 2 infants. The owners were fantastic to deal with and were extremely helpful in providing us with the necessary provisions for our infants. The house itself was lovely -well maintained, clean, spacious and warm. The reverse cycle air-conditioners made the whole house very warm and cosy (which was good as it was a very cold weekend). It was very close to everything (5 minute drive to Hunter Valley Gardens for example) and the owners provide many brochures for things of interest in the area. I will be recommending this property to friends."

  • "This house was a wonderful place to stay. It was close to everything and clean and well presented. I was very impressed with the large kitchen and living room area, and there was plenty of room to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. When staying in the Hunter Valley next time, i will definitely be staying here again. The owners were very wonderful to deal with and overall we were very very happy."
    Emma, April 2011

  • "This house is such a lovely place and so centrally convenient in Cessnock; it was a perfect base for our self-guided wine tour of the Hunter Valley wineries. A variety of food places are also in close proximity and there's plenty of room for parking at the house. I like most of all the amount of people that the house comfortably accommodates - great for keeping everyone together in one spot! The owners are so lovely to deal with and go above and beyond to provide you with helpful information - it was so nice to deal with such friendly people :)"
    Liz, February 2011

  • "We have stayed at this place twice now and would never stay anywhere else when visiting the hunter. The cottage is always clean and tidy and suits a group perfectly. We were very excited to see the new kitchen it is beautiful and really brightens the place up. I have no complaints at all it was all PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT!!!!! "
    Joanne , January 2011

  • "The house is clean and well positioned for access to the Hunter. Roooms are well appointed and the outdoor entertainment area is a real bonus. The only draw back is the road traffic noise, which continues throughout the night. We were actually looking forward to getting back to Sydney so we could get a quiet night sleep! Other than that, we really enjoyed our time @ the house :)"
    Keri, November 2010

  • "Cosy and comfortable. Perfect for a family getaway. Location is excellent-short drive to the vineyards. Cottage was clean and the kitchen well appointed. We had a lovely time with extended family and the cottage accomodated us all. "
