Description

The hideaway of your dreams nestled high up on the edge of an ancient rainforest.

With only two cottages this secluded retreat offers peace and privacy, helping you to escape the stresses of everyday life whilst admiring the beauty of a rainforest teaming with wildlife.

Whether its a romantic getaway or a relaxing break with friends and family, Red Dog Retreat is the place for you.

You can snuggle up in front of the wood burning stove or have a barbeque on the verandah while keeping an eye out for the local wombats, wallabies and birdlife. After that take time out to soak up the atmosphere in our spa baths or have a massage from our 'in house' massage therapist, before hitting the sack to recharge the batteries and awaken to the sound of native birdsong, welcoming in the next day.

Both cottages have two bedrooms and are designed with a rustic feel to blend in with the tranquil rainforest setting. To compliment this each is furnished with an array of eclectic furniture providing all the creature comforts of home. The main bedrooms have ceiling fans and French doors opening up onto the verandah to catch the cool summer breezes. Whilst during the winter months you can enjoy the warmth of the wood burning stove in the cozy living room.

With mountains and beaches virtually at your front door there is an endless list of activities to entertain you during your stay.

All this can be yours in just over 2 hours drive from both Sydney or Canberra so why not book your next escape today!

  • "Hi Rachael, My wife, myself and our pomeranian loved the cottage and enjoyed our stay over the June long weekend. Although it was freezing and wet outside the fireplace and great kitchen facilities allowed us to stay in and enjoy some fantastic meals in the great surrounds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very tidy and well kept gem and would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone after a quiet weekend away! "

  • "This was our 4th visit to Red Dog Retreat and every time we stay, we fall in love with the place more and more. There is no doubt that this is our favourite city escape for me & my husband and our 2 Scottish Deerhounds. The cottages perfectly blend rustic charm with all the mod cons one needs for a perfect break, be it for a week or a weekend. The surrounding rainforests, bush walks, rolling countryside, incredible wild & bird life, nearby beaches and beautiful villages mean there's always plenty to do and see. That is, if you can rouse yourself to leave the cosy cottage, complete with home-made scones & dog treats on arrival, a luxurious spa-bath and lovely wood fire! I know we will continue to love staying at Red Dog Retreat for many years to come. Thank you!"

  • "We experienced a perfect weekend break at Red Dog Retreat - enjoyed by a party of 4 and our Rhodesian Ridgeback dog who had never explored Kangaroo Valley before. Would definately recommend for any discerning city-break goer who desires a cozy and comfortable escape from urban living. Kitchen well equiped with everything to make a gourmet meal to accompany a good wine by the fire."

  • "I booked the Fernery at Red Dog Retreat for my boyfiend's 30th birthday and it was perfect! Cosy, secluded, gorgeous - Red Dog is clean and comfy, and so charming, wth so many gorgeous little touches like scones on arrival and candles everywhere. Rachael was the perfect balance of being there if we needed her and leaving us in complete seclusion. Close to heaven!"

  • "Hi Rachael Just wanted to say a quick thank you for our stay. Red Dog was a fabulous place to get away from every day life for a while. I really appreciated the peace and quiet. Luca the Rottweiler had the time of his life! He spent the majority of his time exploring the wombat holes, coming with me on walks around the property and playing with the other dogs he met during our stay. Finally, after chasing his favourite tennis ball for hours, Luca spent the rest of his time snoring his head off in front of the fire. Thank you again Rachael, what a way to spend some time with my very best friend. "

  • "Red Dog was a great opportunity to spend a long winter weekend by the fire and watching the football...and the wombats. Great atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. We would love to go back in the summer to make full use of the deck. "

  • "My husband and I wanted to take my parents away for a relaxing weekend, and Red Dog Retreat was just perfect for this! The location is absolutely beautiful and very serene. We arrived at night, and were amazed at the view of the valley out of our window in the morning. There were fresh eggs and some delicious cake left for us to enjoy, and we were happy that the weather was chilly so we could enjoy the fire place! We had our 11 month old son with us, and he loved exploring the cottage and going for walks on the property. We were easily able to cook our own meals and we enjoyed watching a couple of the DVD's from the TV cabinet. We would love to visit again, and highly recommend the place to others! Cassie, Mitchell, Robyn, Brian and Baby Dexter!"
