Amity Point is located on the north western corner of North Stradbroke Island off the coast from Brisbane in beautiful Moreton Bay. 'Straddie' as it is known by the locals and regular visitors to the island is the second largest sand island in Australia.
Amity Point is a flat sea side village of approx 250 homes with the first european inhabitants settling here in 1825. It is an ideal base for accessing the eastern side of Moreton Bay and Amity has a large boat ramp less then 300m from Amity Beach House. You can also fish along the rock walls, jetty and surf beaches to the east of the township.
This small sea side village has changed very little in the last twenty years and still has that quiet uncrowded feel. A general store carries a wide range of conveniences from fishing tackle, groceries, magazines and fuel. Just around the corner from Amity Beach House is Seashells Restaurant/Cafe which has all day dining and a fantastic alfresco atmosphere.
The island features stunningly beautiful ocean beaches, mountainous sand dunes, perched inland fresh water lakes, rainforest and wetlands. This provides the perfect backdrop for 4wd adventures, diving, surfing, beachcombing, bike riding, swimming, fishing and just relaxing. During whale watching season you are bound to see whales breeching as they migrate north.
Straddie is accessed by vehicular barge or passenger ferry departing from Cleveland, bayside suburb of Brisbane, arriving at Dunwich. From Dunwich it is a short drive, approximately 15km, to Amity Point.
All of the major roads on the island are sealed and suitable for 2wd's. If you have a 4wd drive you can obtain a permit from the Redland Shire Council to allow you to drive on the beautiful beaches. This is a real treat!
