There are 2 main shopping precints in North Adelaide, Melbourne Street with the Adelaide Icon, The Lion Hotel, and O'Connell street with the well known Archer and the freshly renovated Caledonian Hotel. The Royal Oak Hotel about half way along O'Connell Street is very popular and has musical entertainment with local bands and popular dj's on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday Nights. At the northern end of O'Connell there is the Art Deco style Picadilly picture theatre.
