Watagan Retreat

Description

Set in a secluded part of Laguna, this self-contained cottage is the perfect base from which to explore the boutique Wollombi wineries or the huge range of Hunter Valley vineyards and restaurants. Less than two hours from Sydney on the scenic route to the Hunter, you'll feel a world away from home!

The accommodation...

The cottage has four bedrooms - the main has a King size bed, wood burning stove and doors opening onto the verandah. A second downstairs bedroom contains a queen sized bed and looks out over the garden. There are two upstairs bedrooms, one containing a double bed, with beautiful views from the attic balcony of the surrounding forest, and a single bedroom with views out over the garden.

The kitchen is fully equipped, with all cooking amenities supplied including a microwave and breadmaker. The living area has a DVD and TV (a selection of movies is supplied) and a wood burning stove to keep the warmth in on those cold winter evenings. We have also included a selection of games and books to settle down with on those rainy days.

The garden is bordered by fruit trees, with an outlook over the surrounding hills. Choose from a woodburning or gas BBQ... enjoy lunch on the verandah... or lie back in the hammock! The cottage is visited by a wide variety of wildlife, such as kangaroos, wombats and possums, and a huge variety of birdlife.

Wollombi itself is an historic village on the convict trail between Sydney and Cessnock and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The Wollombi area has a number of award winning wineries including Undercliff Winery and Millbrook, and a lavender farm. The cottage has brochures on local attractions, and we can recommend tour operators that will pick you up and return you to Watagan Retreat.

Secluded hideaway - Perfect. Loved the mist in the valley. Great rustic charm. Saw possum, wombat and wallaby! Awesome.
