Thoughtfully presented home with everything you could possibly need to enjoy the village and the area, and eat in with local market provisions. The owners were charming and very welcoming and it was a pleasure to stay here. Well located for all the sites in this part of the region. A perfect home base! Thank you.

Lovely property, thoughtfully maintained.

We stayed in this lovely apartment for a month and were so sad to leave! It was perfectly positioned, roomy and comfortable. All rooms were large. It would easily accomodate 4 prople. Clean and bright with a lovely courtyard. Well fitted out. Multiple channels available on the TV. Joel was a wonderful host. Parking was great. It's close to everything you need with a boulangerie a couple of doors down, multiple ice cream shops, and a 3 star Michelin restaurant. The village and local area were divine, with lots to do, see and experience. We want to come back and bring friends!

When we first read all of the reviews on Butterfly Cottage before booking, we thought that they really sounded a little bit "too good to be true". But we have to say they are all completely an accurate description of the property and its wonderful hosts. There really are no negatives! Linda and George, the cottage hosts, are the most helpful and genuine people you will ever meet. From the moment we booked, Linda was in touch with very useful information to help make the trip perfect. She provided suggestions of what to see and do in the area, helpful hints and excellent directions to the cottage from where we were coming from. The Dordogne area is absolutely beautiful! There are so many wonderful places to visit and many were only 15 to 20 minutes away by car. Would recommend canoeing on the river. One of our favourites. The cottage itself is stunning. The pictures on the website are great but it is even better in person. There is absolutely everything that you need in the cottage and lots of personal touches by the hosts that make it special. It makes a very comfortable stay. We had chef Dimitri come to the cottage to cook for us one night. He was amazing and it was truly some of the best french food we had tasted. There is also a larger cottage on the property but both cottages have their own private courtyard and areas and it really feels like you have it all to yourself. Butterfly Cottage is now a very special and memorable place to us, as it was on the grounds of the property (in the jacuzzi overlooking a pretty field) that we got engaged. A first at Les Hirondelles apparently! Thank you Linda and George for the lovely card and bottle of champagne for us to celebrate with. We would highly recommend a stay here! Peter & Katey

We had a lovely stay at Gite Marianne, La Bachellerie. The house was very well equipped for all our needs and the owner Aurelien was very kind. We enjoyed visiting nearby towns including Terrason, Montignac, and Sarlat. Terrason was our favourite particularly the Jardin L'Imaginaire - wonderful. We also enjoyed a great lunch at La Mule Blanche just a short walk down the road. Our only caution is that the very steep stair case is probably not suitable for families with young children. We recently stayed at this property located in the centre of the 12th century Bastide town of Monpazier for 8 nights. Our hosts were Derek and Amanda who are from England and who with TLC have lovingly restored this 3 storey building into 2 rental floors and the 3rd being for the owners. Prior to our arrival our hosts had asked if we required any assistance and were eager to make our stay a good one. We were warmly greeted on our arrival and Amanda had put milk bread cheese,jam and a bottle of lovely red wine in the apartment for our arrival which was one of the most welcoming gestures we had encountered in our travels. Our ground floor apartment was modern, clean, had the most comfortable bed of huge proportions which made the comfort level 10 out of 10 for us. The bedroom was very large so plenty of room for cases etc. The open plan dining,lounge and kitchen was fantastic, truly a place to relax and do as much or as little as you wished. All towels, kitchen utensils etc included in the apartment and lots of space to relax. Although the weather was not kind to us the outside pool area was always clean and inviting. Our hosts were on site but not intrusive but very obligining if we were in need of anything. The property is superbly located in the centre of this pretty village and just a few metres to the truly magnificent boulangerie with croissants to die for. There are 2 small supermarkets, butchers, a number of restaurants and some lovely shops if you need some retail therapy. Located just near the cental square where a meal, coffee of wine could be enjoyed in a peaceful atmosphere. Not on the main tourist route but ideally located to do day trips quite easily to some of the most beautiful towns in th Dordogne region. We would highly recommend this property and hope to return again. ( Just a point for the owners and in no way a negative, but more pieces of crockery and cutlery would be helpful and the addition of a small washing machine under the bathroom bench would be of great help for long stays).
