Douglas cottage is nicely situated within a couple minutes walk to the Chester clock and city walls. The property was clean, nicely decorated and offered all the conveniences one would expect. Andrew was a lovely host, very keen to attend to our needs and made himself available throughout our stay. A very important amenity to our group was easily accessible, on street parking! We were never without a permitted parking space during our 8-day stay.

It was a pleasure to host Jill and her guests, looking forward to may be welcoming them all back again one day
Hosts Andrew and Barbara meet us at their beautiful cottage on arrival. They had left a generous welcome food basket and milk and butter in the fridge. They always replied swiftly to any questions we had before our stay too.
We had a wonderful time at Douglas cottage. The location for all that Chester has to offer was right on the doorstep. The house was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed for our stay.Andy and Barbara are fabulous hosts and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be staying at Douglas cottage again (if available) on our next visit to Chester.
I just wish more places would adopt the same approach as these owners, who were there to show us the ropes on arrival and had thought of everything. The cottage is a real gem, very clean, thoughtfully equipped and the beds supremely comfortable. It was the prefect base to enjoy 4 nights in Chester.
Hosts were welcoming and friendly - property was lovely and comfortable and had many interesting features. Great location to explore Chester with local amenities close by. Recommended
We had a great stay on Bath St. The house was brilliantly appointed, Andy and Barbara were extremely welcoming and thoughtful hosts who had provided everything we could need for a really comfortable stay. The location, right in Chester City is fantastic, but enough of a step off the beaten track to be quiet and relaxing inside.
We had a wonderful week in Douglas Cottage. We loved the fantastic basket of goodies provided on our arrival. The Cottage was beautifully presented and in spotless condition. Beds and furnishings are very comfortable and every need is provided for. A quiet peaceful place to return to and relax in the evenings. Excellent, would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Chester.
Beautiful 19th century property designed by local architect
The house had all modcons while retaining lots of original architectural features.
It was great being near the centre of town, grosvenor park and the river.
Andrew and Barbara were very welcoming.
I would definitely stay here again.
The hosts were very friendly, kind and thoughtful providing a range of little extras. The property was clean and lovely to be in with everything you could need. In the city centre and a short walk from train and bus. Excellent property.

Douglas cottage is a beautiful property & is decorated to a very high standard. The owners Barbara & Andy greeted us & showed us how things worked. They left us a basket of food items & milk & butter which was a lovely gesture. The beds were very comfortable & the whole property was extremely clean. We had a fabulous stay.
The property was immaculate, the location is great & the owners were very helpful. We all enjoyed chilling out in the evening at the property after busy days out, it felt like a real home from home. A two minute walk takes you into the town for restaurants, bars, shops etc but it is so quiet in the property you would never know !
Fabulous house in a great location! Andy was there to welcome us and show us around. Lovely welcome pack and fridge items much appreciated . We loved our stay at Douglas Cottage and would definitely recommend it. If we come to Chester again, we’ll be hoping to re-book this place.
The house is a beautiful cottage, immaculately decorated with everything you need for a stay. Andy and Barbara are fantastic hosts decorating the house for Christmas so we felt right at home and a lovely welcome basket meant we didn’t have to rush to the store. This house is a 10/10 for us.

It was a pleasure to host Rob and his family from Australia - look forward to may be welcoming you again to Douglas Cottage in the future where you can be sure of a very warm welcome
This quirky and lovely home is exactly as described in the ad. The hosts Barbara & Andy met us on arrival, gave us a tour of this special holiday home and really made us feel welcome. It is superbly located, very comfortable, spotlessly clean and so full of Barbara’s many finishing touches that we were still admiring something we had missed as we were leaving. Thank you both for providing a great base to explore Chester and beyond.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Douglas Cottage. Beautiful accommodation which is finished to such a high standard, great communication with the owner, very easy check in process and really personal touches left for us at the cottage on our arrival. So much attention to detail and care has gone into making this property such a lovely place to stay - I could not make any suggestions for improvement! Fantastic central location, with everything you need just around the corner and yet a lovely quiet stay at the cottage will still be had. Would highly recommend.

Thank you for your kind words, look forward to welcoming you again in the future where you can be sure of a warm welcome.
One of those rare occasions when all the elements of a short term rental come together in perfect harmony. The property itself is an historical gem; quixotic architecture, period furnishings and state of the art appliances make for a unique stay far removed from the comparatively bland norm. The delightful hosts were easy to communicate with, provided a warm personal welcome on our arrival as well as a generous basket of groceries. All this located near the heart of this ancient city, in easy walking distance of the park, river, medieval buildings, shops and restaurants.
The property was very modern for a 1903 building. The furnishing was excellent and comfortable. We were 4 people staying in a 3 bedroom cottage. The appliances were state of the art in a kitchen that looked like it was brand new. The location was within walking distance of the train station and in the heart of downtown, with parks and shopping near by. The hosts were welcoming and took care to show us how everything worked. There were brochures of places to see and things to do around Chester.
In all it was a wonderful stay.
Owners met us personally at the house and were flexible with timings. We had a tour and they explained how the appliances worked. Welcome hamper along with milk, bread and butter provided which was a lovely touch. Really well equipped kitchen, all bathrooms had soap and plenty of towels to use. Location is very central within walking distance or a bus or train to a lot of things to do. When we left my daughter realised she’d lost a ring. Owners found it when cleaning and went above and beyond to return it to her. Would highly recommend this property for a break in Chester.
Douglas Cottage exceeded expectations. It was delightfully decorated in Georgian and Victorian styles but managed to perfectly combine historical charm with all the necessary mod-cons. The hosts, Barbara and Andrew, greeted us on arrival and showed us around the cottage and explained how everything worked. They thoughtfully saved us a parking spot directly outside the house (residents permit only) and provided us with a lovely basket of goodies. The location is absolutely ideal, about 100 yards from Grosvenor park and the river in one direction and 100 yards to the main High street in the other direction. We stayed for two nights and it was a perfect choice which allowed us to explore Chester on foot without the need to drive anywhere.Despite it's central location we were transported to another time once we stepped over the threshold and I would totally recommend Douglas cottage to anyone wanting a memorable visit to Chester.

We travelled from Canada, three sisters and two of our daughters, and wanted to enjoy an authentic English accommodation. We found everything we needed with the unique and luxurious Douglas Cottage. Plenty of space for all five of us, with 3 bedrooms (a total of 4 beds that you melted into, my daughter and I shared the queen bed in the master bedroom ) and 3 bathrooms, it was the perfect fit for us and turned out to be less expensive than 3 hotel rooms. We enjoyed breakfast at the large dining table every morning, and relaxing in the lounge with the gas fireplace after a long day out exploring. The ability for us to be in the same space (and not separated into 3 hotel rooms), the washer and dryer (allowing us to pack less in our suitcase) and the location were the three main reasons we chose to stay at The Douglas Cottage, it did not disappoint. We did not have a vehicle and relied on walking, tour bus, taxi or train, all within a 10 minute walk. I would definitely stay at the Douglas Cottage again! Thank you to our gracious hosts who thought of everything travellers with children or without, would/could/should need!
We had a fabulous break at Douglas Cottage. Such an interesting & quirky property in a perfect location, with friendly & attentive hosts.
The cottage was immaculate & had everything we could possibly need for a perfect stay!
Would definitely recommend and would love to return one day.
