Located in Paul do Mar, a historic fishing village in Madeira, the warmest and sunny west coast of Calheta. The area is popular with nature lovers, country with white sandy beaches and coastal Levada Walks and in the most protected forest by UNESCO with waterfalls in Madeira.

Pleasant and good location away from hustle and bustle

There was no hard standing in front of the property as shown on the photo. This had been enclosed with wall and gate and therefore we found it difficult to find. The owner very kindly got us a replacement parasol but it was too light and kept blowing away! The bed linen could have been better, and lighting improved in bedrooms. More door hooks required in bathrooms and bedrooms. Could have done with some local information, eg. supermarket, cash machine, buses, taxis, nearby cafes and restaurants and other facilities. Otherwise good property especially for families. Excellent fish (The Fish Factory) restaurant 8 minutes walk. Apologies to Gabriel as we meant to clear out the fridge! Hope the above is seen as constructive criticism as we enjoyed our stay and found it interesting as good view of the children's football every evening. Thanks you. Linda & Geoff

Schönes Ferienhaus mit Blick aufs Meer und toller Terrasse. Teilweise waren die Türen reparaturbedürftig und der Abfluss der Dusche hat nicht gut funktioniert. Die Küche war sehr gut ausgestattet. Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt, da wir auch das ganze Haus für uns hatten. Zum Baden muss man ein Stück laufen.

Toujours le même bonheur

Depuis plusieurs années désormais, nous restons dans la maison de Gabriel en décembre. Non seulement la maison a un charme singulier, du fait des lignes de couleur bleues qui soulignent la façade et entourent les fenêtres, mais elle est confortable, et comporte une grande pièce qui sert de salle à manger, de lieu de travail (pour qui écrit ou lit), avec une vue directe sur l'océan, dont on entend les remous. C'est comme vivre à l'intérieur d'une carte postale. La longue promenade qui borde la mer permet d'aller au centre de Paúl do Mar d'un côté, au bord de la fajã da Ovelha de l'autre. Parmi les restaurants que nous avons fréquentés : Sol e Mar à proximité a des prix modiques, Sabor a Mar plus loin a des produits de la mer excellents mais à des prix excessifs pour touristes, enfin Mara proche de l'église, en bordure de la route principale, de prime abord peu attractif du fait de son emplacement, a des plats de qualité à des prix ordinaires. Les relations par mail avec Gabriel sont simples et directes, amicales.

Estancia perfecta

Paul do Mar es un pequeño pueblo al lado del mar, muy tranquilo, mucho silencio. Vistas del atardecer magníficas. La casa es grande, situada en primera linea de mar, con una terraza hermosa que usamos mucho. Cocina grande y suficientemente equipada. Habitaciones y colchones cómodos. No echamos nada en falta. Perfectamente atendidos por mail por el anfitrión. No necesitanos ayuda, pero si así fueses, su hermana vive al lado. Una estancua perfecta. Madeira es increíble.

Für einen Aufenthalt im Januar ist das Haus ideal. Direkt am Meer, nur von einer wenig befahrenen Straße getrennt. Bei Sturm ist es dann allerdings wirklich laut. Küche und Esszimmer zusammen haben Fenster nach drei Seiten, das ist wundervoll. Die Ausstattung ist etwas schlicht, mit ein bisschen Improvisation sind wir gut zurecht gekommen. Die Frontmauer sieht jetzt anders aus, deshalb haben wir es nicht gleich erkannt

Notre maison face à l'océan chaque hiver désormais

Que dire que nous n'aurions pas déjà dit sur cette maison face à l'océan, où nous séjournons chaque année désormais, si élégante avec les entourages bleus de ses fenêtres, si calme par sa situation dans une rue en impasse, si emplie des voyages et des rêves portés par l'immensité de l'océan dont rien n'entrave la vue ? Elle est proche des levadas, des supermercados, des restaurantes (dont celui à proximité, Sol e Mar, aux plats simples et bons à prix modiques). Elle offre une longue promenade en bord de l'océan d'un côté jusqu'au port avec son Homem do Mar puissant et héroïque, de l'autre jusqu'à deux bars aux sonorités et tonalités jeunes. La maison elle-même est confortable, avec le nécessaire pour la cuisine, un bon wifi, des pièces de belle dimension, en particulier le séjour-cuisine dont les fenêtres ouvrent sur les vagues, le coucher de soleil, le lointain. Gabriel est totalement disponible par mail.

une grande maison bleue face à l'océan

C'est une belle et grande maison aux entourages bleus qui se trouve face à l'océan. Nous promenant à Paul do Mar, quelques années plus tôt, on avait vu cette maison, et on avait rêvé d'y séjourner. Le rêve est devenu réalité, et la réalité concorde avec le rêve. La partie louée est sur deux étages : en bas trois chambres, et à l'étage un salon-séjour avec cuisine, une autre chambre, et une terrasse avec vue sur les vagues et le lointain. Les vibrations de l'océan parviennent en continu dans la maison, ce qui contribue à son charme unique. Si une route la sépare de l'océan, celle-ci est sans issue, donc peu de voitures passent, de toute façon les vagues masquent les bruits éventuels. L'intérieur a un bel escalier et un beau parquet de bois exotique (qui évoque l'acajou et celui des bateaux) donnant une ambiance chaude. L'étage est entouré de fenêtres si bien que l'ensemble est lumineux. En permanence, on a l'océan sous les yeux, avec le soleil qui s'y couche. Tout le confort ordinaire est présent. Le garage avec porte automatique est appréciable. Une personne de la famille, des plus aimables, habite à proximité et peut intervenir rapidement si nécessaire. Si Gabriel, le propriétaire, vit au loin, les relations avec lui par mails ont été faciles et courtoises. Un séjour parfait, qu'on espère pouvoir renouveler.

Vue magique imprenable

Belle maison vaste et tranquille, sur le versant abrité de l'île. Beau temps assuré. La vue sur la mer n'a aucun obstacle. Déjeuner face à la mer c'est magique. Le village est petit, il y a une petite épicerie et des restaurants très abordables. Mon amie et moi avions fait notre QG du soir celui qui est à 300m, moins de 10mn à pied. En ce moment la route de la côte est fermée, ce qui oblige à passer par une route sinueuse et pittoresque. Nous avons adoré ce lieu qui nous a permis de rayonner dans toute l'île. Le propriétaire est très disponible par mail, sa soeur habite à côté, très sympa et obligeante. Je recommande vivement !
