About this property
Museum & Guesthouse "Stūrīši"
Livonian & Latvian Homestead "Stūrīši & Branki" offers guest accommodation in 4 houses owned by our family, quietly situated in the picturesque historic Livonian fishing village in Mazirbe, Kurzeme. Each house has a unique setting, history and style, varied types of rooms and amenities. We welcome you to get "back to basics", experience great food and hospitality in the middle of the countryside.
Breakfast is included in all bookings.
THE HOUSE:
The household and museum "Stūrīši" is a very old house (1800s), in which you can observe the traditional cooking stove for food and bread, as well as enjoy a historical, renewed fireplace which is very cosy.
Depending on your preference, you can stay on a sofa-bed on the 1st floor or in the renovated, traditional single beds (new, comfy mattresses!). We also have a small, cute loft with 2x double mattress-beds. We can combine these together for couples staying there. We can also add more beds in the house.
As this house is a true gem of how things used to be & also serves as a museum of Livonian & Latvian culture, you will see many historical items around the house. Unfortunately, this also means that the house doesn't have a modern shower facility. There is a toilet in an outhouse and a separate guest shower, available for your use in our other house.
EXTRAS: Children are welcome and we can arrange a crib.
A traditional firewood heated sauna (hot rocks and steam) is available for hire to all guests who stay at least 3 nights.
If we have free spaces, we are happy to take on guests who wish to stay for 1-2 nights. The price per night will be +30% more per person than detailed in the booking system.
QUESTIONS? Don't worry if you are not clear on something - we are happy to liaise with you before confirming the reservation to ensure your stay is worry-free! :)

About the host
Hosted by Igors
Family cook, designer, entrepreneur - I care about an authentic feel and taking care to add the right details and make our house a rare and unforgettable experience. I like to combine the best and the most interesting elements of various historical ages while retaining the traditions of Latvian and Livonian living. As a certified cook with over 25 years of experience in cooking for legions, restaurants and my family, I truly enjoy cooking in a proper countryside kitchen.
Why they chose this property
Mazirbe is a getaway from the world. Hardly any phone reception, no internet. Instead there are miles and miles of a green, fresh pine forest. You can go pick berries, mushrooms or just for long, healthy walks. If forests are not in your fancy, there is a white sandy beach! During summers and early autumn water gets warm enough for swimming. Usually you can have the beach almost to yourself - this remote location is far away from popular routes.
What makes this property unique
Rural location, with beauty and peace all around you. Come here if you truly want to get away, regain that easy feeling of a summer-house holiday and just enjoy the very fresh air, surprises, nature and food.
We rely on local farmers and their stock - all of our food is bought from great, hardworking people - supplying fresh meat, dairy products, locally-grown vegetables, individually crafted local foods (Sklandrausis, for example), berries, mushrooms and when the sea has the right conditions our village fishermen sell finger-licking good fresh fish.
