My wife and I stayed here for two weeks and loved everything about the place. Finola was a great host and I highly recommend staying at her beautiful home.
Great place for morning walks, trees were in full fall color, horses friendly and very quiet. The accommodations met were clean and met the expectations of or 2 couple party. Thank-you for a memorable stay
Wonderful, charming, great place to land at the end of the day. Owner on site if you need anything but never intrusive. Property was beautiful, interesting history. Would love to stay again.
We loved our stay in this beautifully renovated and decorated cottage! The bedrooms and bathrooms are particularly comfortable, with lashings of hot water and very effective central heating - used once when we had a chilly morning amongst the fabulous sunny days!
Finola and John couldn't have been more helpful, from helping us out with carrying our cases upstairs to recommendations for day trips out from this great location!
We had a fantastic time on the Lisdonagh estate. We had ample space for the family and the apartment was well equipped. Our hosts were super friendly and even let my son ride the donkey, which was a highlight for him. It was the perfect location to take day trips to Athenry, Ross Errilly Friary, Clifden and more, then we'd come home to the relaxing serenity of the countryside.
Communication was easy and great. Clean space, and very quiet area. Firm Mattress, not the best pillows but not horrible. A bit of a drive to most things, but pretty area.
We enjoyed our stay and the house was very nice, clean and the beds were comfortable. The only thing we would suggest is a shade over the sky light in one of the bedrooms and little bigger tv in living room area. The house is situated in a nice country setting and very quiet. We loved the scenery and the houses. Our son stayed in the big house with his rugby teammates and was very nice as well. If we ever come back to Ireland we would stay again. Thanks for allowing us to stay in your home.
The pictures online are accurate. The two-story unit is beautifully decorated and very comfortable with excellent bathrooms and a very quiet setting. The 200 acre estate has beautiful walks and vistas. We enjoyed beautiful daytrips, especially Achill. The owners live onsite and could not have been more helpful. The house is 3 miles away from a town, so plan to pick up groceries and beverages en route. Highly recommend.

Charming but remote
We loved our host Finola and the accommodations were charming and spacious, but the location was further from Galway than anticipated. It was easily 30 minutes, not the 20 min indicated in the listing. Also there was no clothes drier or usable boat as listed. However, the property was lovely and a short walk to the lake with the farmland and animals around was a highlight of our stay. Finola was an energetic, positive, and gracious host. Our stay here was unique and memorable on our overall Ireland adventure.

Charming, great location but issues.
The decor is lovely, the location is peaceful yet very well positioned. The kitchen though Tardis-like has an oven, hob, fridge and dishwasher. There is a washing machine but, not as listed, a dryer. The host did offer to dry clothes on our last evening when I contacted her about the washer/dryer. The jacuzzi bath in the master does not work.
Overall we had a great stay. Used the location as a countryside home base and explored the region. Was a harder to find location as google maps struggled a bit and wifi was spotty at times. Finola was a very gracious hostess.
This was the perfect stay for our family. As well as a gorgeous and clean property, Finola and John were faultless hosts. They answered all of our questions, have exceptional local knowledge and are warm and welcoming. The location is easy to get to Galway while offering beautiful countryside.
We stayed on a beautiful estate surrounded by horses grazing on the land and their very own donkey, Jack Derby. If you call to Jack, he will come to the fence. He lets you pet him, and he expects carrots in return. John and Finola are gracious hosts, and it was nice to greet them every day. There have a beautiful garden that they lovingly care for, and many of the flowers bloomed during our 11-night stay. We enjoyed taking daily walks on the property, some of which were around 9 PM. The sun sets late in Ireland.
Finola was so accommodating and lovely person. Our home for 3 days. Absolutely beautiful! The decor was out of a dream and the grounds were beautiful. When we come back in the future we will stay here again!

Gorgeous unique property, exceptionally well kept and really nice linens etc, in a beautiful natural setting very nearby to great local walks and within easy drive of Galway, Caherconnell, and a trip to the Aran Islands. Fantastic, one of the best places I have ever stayed in. Thanks so much to our wonderful host!
We're so glad we decided to stay outside Galway instead of in town. The scenery, grounds, and accommodation were all picture perfect. One could totally believe the history of the fairies fills this forest. Finola was very responsive to all questions and check-in and out couldn't have been easier. She also made an excellent restaurant recommendation. We loved being able to have a dinner in our place as well so we could sample all the whiskeys we've been purchasing on our distillery road trip. We would absolutely stay here again.
The rental was delightful as were the owners. Finola greeted us soon after we arrived and told us the history of the property which is quite interesting. John came and lite the fireplace for us. Even the horses in the field were enchanting.
Stunningly beautiful and comfortable accommodations on historic property!
First, Finola and John are the most lovely, interesting and warm hosts. The property is a dream setting in the countryside, a historic Irish manor house on 200 acres of land with a small lake and many horses (my 2 young daughters loved feeding and petting the horses)! The accommodations are beautiful and very comfortable (we stayed in a 2 bedroom Villa for a week). Great location for day trips to Galway, Mayo, Aran Islands, Connemara, Clifden, etc. Or instead to just relax on the stunning property with a book and a drink on a nice day.
In summary, a beautiful fairy-tale country setting with wonderful owners!
We had a wonderful stay in this charming cottage. Very clean, comfortable and relaxing. The tiny kitchen was a challenge for our group of four who all enjoying cooking, but had all the necessary items to prepare our meals. Beds were super comfy and we all slept so good in this quiet rural area.
Extrordinary surroundings and accomodation.
A little bit dilapidated, but still stylish, luxorius and peaceful place. Our toddler totally enjoyed running around the estate and in particular the sheep and the horses.
Had there been a check-in process, it would have been easier to avoid some misunderstandings. Apparently there had been small plumbing issues and shower heads had been removed. This made it difficult to wash up for the first night, but we were given one shower head on the second day. Also we were a bit cold because we didn't know how the heating systems worked.
But nevertheless it was a great place and will definately return some day.
