Lovely 3 Bedroom Bungalow on the shore of Lough Corrib (Oughterard.)

Beautiful lake shore bungalow, on a private peninsula with its own quiet access only road. The house is an archiect designed mid century modern house built in 1964 and recently lovingly restored and still in the same family. Five minute drive from the town of Oughterard (Oughterard is on the N59 from Galway towards Clifden), 26 km from Galway city.

The house has 3 doule bedrooms with flexible accommodation in two (twin or double beds). It has 2 bathrooms, Master en-suite, Grohe power rain showers in both bathrooms, enormous open plan sitting and dining room with large copper hood fire place and fabulous views over the lake, well appointed kitchen with large SMEG fridge freezer, separate reception room, with second 8 seater dining table for more casual family meals. Large garden with direct access to lake shore front and back and private harbour for exclusive use by guests to the rear.. incredible views over the lake, peaceful and tranquil getaway.

We had a lovely stay and the days were clear and bright showing off the location as we were surrounded by lough Corrib. The open fire was delightful. The well equipped kitchen easily accommodated our Christmas day meal. The design of the house is excellent and accommodates all real needs with a variety of spaces.

Nice little bungalow on the lake that my group stayed at for a few nights to explore Western Ireland. The scenery was gorgeous, and it was a very quick/easy drive into Oughterard for restaurants / supplies.

We had a wonderful time in the house. The pictures online do NOT do justice to the beauty of the location—absolutely gorgeous views from the dining room! Nice enclosed front yard and back yard leads to the water, fun for kids to play. It is a great place for families as the house is comfy enough where you aren’t worried a kid will destroy something. There is a washer/dryer which was tough for us (Americans) to figure out but that’s part of the charm of international travel. The kitchen was pretty well equipped although we found a plate or two had been put away dirty by prior guests. We ate most breakfasts and dinners there. The location was a great launching point for visiting the Connemara peninsula, Galway, Aran Islands, etc. Nick, the owner, was really helpful when I goofed up our reservation and needed to add an extra day. My only quibbles were that the house smelled a bit musty, particularly the back smaller bedroom. Also the rubbish bins outside were overfull when we arrived and not emptied by the end of our stay, forcing us to leave our trash in a bag outside the bins. But again, this was a great little spot with amazing natural beauty.

Wonderful stay by the lake

This stay and area were the highlight of our trip. We loved everything about the cottage and location. Breathtakingly beautiful and right near the lovey town with everything you need to include world class coffee, and multiple outstanding pubs. Clancys is an absolute must as is Powers Thatch.

Absolutely beautiful views of lakes and mountains!! Even got to see a sunset one evening!!! Beds are very comfortable and house is very quirky (in a good way) with old timey furniture and appliances (all work fine). Well stocked kitchen. Short drive into Oughterard (very cute little town) has supermarket and pubs (Clancy’s serves wonderful roasters and has live music). Convenient to take day trips to Connemara peninsula. All in all a grest place to stay.

Lovely New Year Retreat

After a whirlwind tour of Dublin and Cork we found a refreshing change of pace at this bungalow outside of Oughterard to ring in the New Year. There was plenty of room for the five of us and it made a great landing spot for day trips to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway.

Family Vacation in Ireland

Perfect location on shore of Lough Corrib

Perfect location for Oughterard - direct access to lake with private jetty. Large interior space - plenty of room for gear etc. Well equipped; good showers; open fire.

Good location

Overall, not a bad place. Good central location to visit the many attractions in this special part of Ireland. Amenities were good. The cottage could use some upgrades such as more comfortable living room furniture. The mattress in the ensuite needs to be replaced as well. The outside could use some sprucing up. This cottage has potential just needs a little tlc.

Hi David, thank you for your honest feedback, I just arrived down here myself & your comments are well noted, one side of the zip link mattresses was a (soft) mattress while the other side was firm, there was some negative feedback on the soft side so we just took delivery of 2 zip link Harrison spinks Santorini 27,000 coretec mattresses with medium firmness (which hopefully is ok for everyone). These are top of the line mattresses that have come at a top of the line price, so we really hope if you return that issue has been resolved. I was also surprised to see the state of the garden, whilst the lawn had been cut nicely, the patio and around needed to be weeded badly, and some of the shrubs could be cut back more.. I will make sure these things are added to the gardeners rota as indeed it is a new gender & I hadn’t specified everything that needed to be maintained. Maybe on the furnishings I’m not sure I exactly see your point & maybe you could send me more detail as to what furnishings were not comfortable? The older arm chairs were reupholstered recently & I find very comfortable & the B&B italia leather lounge chairs I also find very comfortable.. anyway thank you so much for staying with us and indeed thank you for your feedback, we are already making improvements as a result! Please feel free to return any time & hopefully you will notice the changes!
