This well decorated, modern, Victorian, comfortable home is on Balboa Island. It is four houses from Newport Bay. VIRTUAL TOUR VIDEO can be accessed by clicking on the right arrow (>) shown on the last photo (It's on 2nd line on the right).

The Island has beaches, shops, restaurants, fishing, boat rentals, and a boardwalk encircles the Island for pleasure walks. Beautiful free city tennis courts are available near by a few miles. A small ferry is a block from the house. This short ferry ride takes you across the bay to the Pacific Ocean and the ocean board walk and Balboa Pier.

Beach Life: You can relax on the front porch, cool on the propane BBQ, (even use our Wi-Fi) or walk four houses to the bay and play and relax on the sandy beach. If you want to visit the ocean and play in the ocean waves, just take the few minute ride across the bay. The Ferry is a small three car ferry with room for beach-goers. One leaves every few minutes during the day and evening. Great place to play for children of all ages.

Your vacation home is on the quiet corner of the Island. You can walk around the Island and stop at the coffee shops , small grocery or small shops on the main street.

Regional Attractions: You can use this vacation home as a base and visit all of the Southern California attractions. You are able to drive to Disneyland, Knotts' Berry Farm, Laguna Beach Art Galleries, Lego Land, and Universal Studios. Drive along the coast and see the Pacific Ocean. You can shop till you drop at Fashion Island/ Newport Center or South Coast Plaza. Visit the well known areas in Hollywood & Los Angeles. Take the Catalina Flyer to visit Catalina.

Regarding REFUNDS, Although marked "NONE": on HA site, we do offer the following. When we hear of the need to cancel, we attempt to re-rent. If we are successful, then we refund all monies on deposit, minus our service charge of $200. If we are not successful in re-renting, then we retain all monies on deposit. Family Thanksgiving get together

The house was perfect for our family get-together. The location is superb, on the quiet end of the island, just steps from the walking path around the island. We were happy that there was always parking right out front for our local family. The furniture and decor could use some updating but it was comfy. The kitchen is well-stocked for dinners at home. We loved seeing the spectacular holiday lights go up after Thanksgiving.

We had a wonderful stay for four days in this beautiful home. It’s perfect for families of all ages. Beautiful dining room table to enjoy meals together and fully equipped kitchen to prepare all meals. There are many restaurants to walk to to enjoy the area. Walks on Balboa Island are very peaceful. We were lucky enough to catch the Balboa parade during Our visit visit. Three bedrooms are very comfortable and three full baths make everything so luxurious. I highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.

Christmas on Balboa Island

This is a beautiful property, spacious and well furnished. The kitchen is fully set with every pot and appliance.You could want to prepare a Christmas meal. The home is very comfortable with a great TV room for a football viewing. The Christmas lights on the homes in Balboa is spectacular to see.

Location, Location, Location

The house is located three doors from the bay. From the table outside, you can watch the boats go by all day long. The carpets in the living room were badly stained, the wood furniture needed some TLC and oil, and the windows in the master bedroom really needed to be fixed or replaced; many couldn't be opened for that wonderful fresh ocean air. But it is a very nice house; it just needs some TLC.

Wonderful stay!!

George, the owner, is a very caring person and wonderful to correspond with. He even left some "welcome" gifts for me. His beautiful home is furnished with everything you could need I'm a cook, and I found everything I needed for making and storing the food that I cooked. There was even a garlic press or two. It was nice to have a garage so I didn't have to look for parking. I'm very grateful to George for letting me rent his beautiful home in a nice neighborhood for two weeks.

Christmas Wonderland and Summer beach fun

Balboa Island is perfect anytime of the year for vacation experiences. This home is conveniently located on the quiet side of the island and close to the ferry with access to Balboa Peninsula and the beaches. Christmas offers the boat parade and holiday decorations that are awesome. Summer Offers boating and beach access through the ferry . The home is superbly equipped with a full chef kitchen, offering the opportunity to cook if you choose. Restaurants offer wonderful takeout choices. This is our second year of choosing this home for our family vacation. I highly recommend it for your family.

The week was great. George is an excellent host or owner. Communicated quickly, accurately and honestly. The booklet of info in the house gave you everything you needed to know. Place was clean, big and quiet. Everything worked and even had beach chairs, towels and kids toys. Internet was fast and washer and dryer were top shelf. Everything worked and the neighborhood is quiet and peacefull. Just a half block to a small beach and a block to the Ferry. All you can ask for. I would do it again and price and value were a "5".

Just returned to Chicago after a magical visit to Balboa Island. We enjoyed the location and comfort of your rental home on Balboa Island. Even though we are a retired couple who only needed one bedroom, during our monthlong stay we were able to have our grandson who lives nearby stay one weekend and our other family members who flew in to stay in the other bedroom. It was great to be able to host them away from home. We loved our daily walks around the island and the beautiful sunsets. The family Duffy boat tour, the Lyon Air Museum, and a spa day at Pelican Hill Resort were some of our favorite activities. We also enjoyed the weekly Farmers Market in CDM and the wonderful sculptor on the Island who constructed a new sand sculpture each weekend, including Super Bowl and Valentine's Day themes. As mentioned, plenty of comfy sleeping arrangements, a well equipped kitchen that allowed home cooked meals and even homemade cookies. The modern bathrooms upstairs are great, but would have been nice to have one downstairs. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Classic Balboa Island Refuge

My extended family has been meeting on Balboa Island for reunions for the past 77 consecutive years. Each year we rent separate homes on the island and each rental makes for its own unique memory. 112 Garnett, hosted by George Watson, turned out to be one of my family’s favorites. We loved being in a home that has the classic traditional, warm wood and low ceiling original Balboa beach home feel that we loved experiencing as kids on the island decades ago, but complemented with perfectly modern kitchen, laundry, and bathroom facilities. Best of all worlds and particularly ideal for our week dotted by multiple extended family visitors at random times because the main floor has five distinct gathering areas: a spacious well furnished front patio, a dining room, the kitchen (where people always gather the most) and two separate sitting areas with comfortable couches. Meanwhile, the master bedroom has its own lovely space, huge walk-in closet, and delightful little patio with a charming view. The location on the south end of Garnet, which is on the west end of a busy island, provided unexpected quiet from usual Balboa traffic along with consistent street parking. We also appreciated use of the garage. Everything about this home was a five star experience!

Great house in a great location

Great Victorian style house with a number of unique finishes. The property is just four houses from the harbor front and a two block stroll to the Balboa Island ferry. The master bedroom is wonderful with multiple windows that make it seem you are in a tree house when looking out the windows, plus a small balcony with seating for two with a view of the harbor. Will definitely be revisiting in the future. One note not directly related to the property is that much of Newport Beach lies under the departure flight paths from Orange County Airport, so you will experience aircraft noise throughout the day. George and Karen are great hosts and you will be in good hands at their property. Final note, the kitchen has just about everything you could think of to use, very well stocked!

We logged many hours sitting on the sand at the end of the street when they were small and watched them learn to surf, swim, row, scuba dive etc... When they grew up we remodeled the house and moved to Montana, where we enjoy riding our horses. We could not leave the Island and our children insist on visiting; so we now have a weekly vacation rental. We hope you and your family will make many wonderful memories here as well.

This is our home when we come to California. We keep it spotless,decorated and well appointed with amenities. We cook in the kitchen, BBQ on the patio, enjoy walking the quiet end of the island. Hopefully, our personal touch will make your stay like family.

What makes this property unique

We mostly rent to people who return year- after-year to stay in our home. They often feel it is their personal vacation second home. People come from Europe and some from a nearby cities, to enjoy the beach. We hope you will become one of our extended families.
